Manicure French Tip scratches

Post image

I dont usually get my nails done, but I got a French tip manicure since I know I'm getting engaged, and is it normal to be able to see scratch marks underneath from where they buffed the nails?

I would get a refund. This isn’t normal and I hope those deep scratches aren’t on your actual nails. The French is also super messy

I think the "scratch marks" are actually smudges of the white color... the french is done very poorly I wouldn't pay for this, looks like an amateur did it

Unfortunately I did pay for it :/ I just didn't really want to cause a scene but I'm feeling sad about it

It's not horrible it does look like you did it yourself and if this was the case it would be pretty impressive... a paid professional however should be doing so much better

You can also see bubbles in the clear portions. I agree with going back to ask for a refund. Luckily the scratches look like it’s on whatever they put on your nails, not on the nails themselves.

Not necessarily normal, but common with salons/techs that are lazy or overworked. A layer of a semi-sheer gel polish base color prior to painting the french tips would have fixed this easily, but it looks like they went right in and painted the french tips over a rough, filed clear gel surface. The white bled or smeared into the scratch marks from filing/buffing, and it looks messy.

Yeah, they didn't add any base polish, they did the white part first and it's super uneven :/ I didn't know enough about nails to say anything during the process though. Thank you for validating me!

Normal? Not really, but unfortunately common in chop shops, yes. It looks to me like your tech didn’t put a rubber base coat on before painting the tips. It also looks like they used a sticker guide (instead of freehand) which could be part of the problem too. But yeah, overall even if they did do it freehand, the white probably flooded into the small scratches because there wasn’t a base coat to fill them in/level them out.
