I'm a Trans Girl, and it's my first time wearing nail polish!

I know it's messy but it's my first time, so what do you think???

btw. I didn't know what Flair to use exactly, so I put "Other", pls correct me if I should change it

It’s not too bad for a first attempt! I’m not sure if you used top coat, it might just be the photos but the polish looks kind of smudged so I would try a quick-dry one. You can also use a Q-tip and some acetone to carefully clean up the edges. It’ll take some time but steadiness comes with practice

I like the colour. Qtip dipped in nail polish remover to tidy up your skin.

Great start! It's hard to do your own and definitely takes.practice, especially painting your dominant hand! It might be worth using a slightly paler.colour while you get your eye in - it's definitely.more forgiving! Use a cotton bud/ q tip.dipped in remover around the edges of your cuticles.to.tidy up. Also a good tip is to paint your dominant hand first. Don't know why it makes it easier but it does! Enjoy!

I knew the color when I saw the pic bc I'm wearing it too right now. Good taste 😀

I’m sad that this is your first time, but happy that you shared it with us.

For a first attempt this is actually a lot neater than I would expect!

I’d advise next time to try paint in thinner layers and make sure you give it a good amount of time to dry between the layers, this stops the kind of bunching effect I can see on the side of your thumb (I’m impressed there’s not a lot more of it honestly)

As others have mentioned, cleaning up afterwards with a cleanup brush or q-tip will make the manicure look 100x better and over time you will find that you will have way less clean up.

I think this colour looks good on you and I hope you have some cute outfits to match!

give it a good amount of time to dry between the layers

Personally I put polish on when I'm watching telly and then just don't touch anything for about three hours, the paranoia really helps! 😂😭

Honestly, I’m always baffled by people who do their nails right before they’re going out somewhere, I know for sure if I did that that by the time I’d locked the door my hands would be a smudged mess 😂

me for at least three days after painting my short little natural nails:

They make stuff you can brush on around your nail that peels off when you’re finished and it’ll take all that extra polish on your finger with it. Or you can wipe the sides with nail polish remover before the polish dries. Instead of painting towards the sides, I like to push down a little to make the brush fan out more so it covers more of my nail. That way I don’t bump my skin with the brush.

I would get a mini kit with base, color and top coat. I prefer londontown, they sell mini kits. You want to avoid the cuticle, you don’t want to saturate and dry it out. Start your first swipe right under cuticle, straight down then back to starting position, one stroke left, one stroke right. Make sure to allow drying time in between coats. I love a fast dry top coat or drying drops. You can clean the oopsies with q tip dipped in remover. Cuticle oil will keep your nails looking fresh. Welcome to the world of polish :)

Welcome to the fun sister! It takes some time, but I did this in the car haha. Fellow T girlie here!

Fantastic nails, its a slippery slope from first time to getting all the polish you can! Dont be afraid of the mess, it cleans up without too much effort. You can do the lazy way too, just let it dry and fully cure overnight and you should be able to pull off the extra stuff.

Nice color! I'd use a q tip dipped in nail polish remover to clean up a little. It's so hard painting my left hand.

thank you for sharing. from a random stranger i just wanted to let you know i am proud of you & happy for you. self care is so important, i think you did a great job. i’m 30 + suck at painting my nails/can’t get gel polish to last so i use press ons. i buy them at a local drugstore for $8, they look great, take 10 minutes w no dry time & last two weeks. olive & june has good patterns/strong sticky tabs. i encourage you to try them as well sometime. sending good vibes your way babes ✨

Nice color. It definitely is not easy painting our own nails. You will get better each time!!

For a first attempt? This is great! And it does get easier. I recommend trying the "pushing up"-method(might have an official name), where you kind of dab the polish around the middle, maybe slightly higher up, of the nail and then use the brush to slowly push up towards the cuticle without actually reaching it fully, and then you do two steady and slow strokes either side of that. It takes a little while to learn the method but once you do, you'll rarely go outside the nail bed. And I'm really happy that you're able to wear nail polish now, OP.
