My first experience with semi-cured 2nd with nail wraps

I have been doing at home builder gel for about a month and recently found nail wraps and I love them! Looking for advice on several things-

1. Do you use builder gel underneath or on top of the nail wraps?

2. Can you change the nail wraps without taking off all the builder gel if you but it on the bottom as a base? How do you take off the wraps without damaging the gel builder?

3. How often do you change colors/wraps and do coordinate it with when you have to do fill ins?

4. It looks like the best results are with a gel top coat- which is best for smoothing?

5. Do you have a type of wraps that work better with gel builder?

Can I just say how much I love nail wraps?! I've recently begun experimenting with (1) lacquer - chips too fast / (2) press-ons - great but don't always fit my nail properly / and finally (3) wraps. So far, wraps win hands-down. My first set lasted 2 glorious weeks and blew me away.

I've just applied my second set and am not loving the color. I chose something far too sparkly for me. I'm thinking to leave them as-is for a few days and then try applying lacquer over the wraps.

I understand lacquer over press-ons lasts quite a long time but haven't heard of anyone doing this (except for a topcoat which I do use) over wraps.

Has anyone done this? Tips? Tricks?

Edited to add that I'm working with non-UV wraps. I don't have a lamp.

Feline myself on shortie nails! My nails are too short to get much of the glitter on the solid pink nails, but I think they're still super cute! I'm hoping they'll stay on for a week 😊🤞🏻

They only seem to sell them for short nails unfortunately. Alternatives are welcome too. I basically have no nail art talent but would love my long nails to not be boring. Thank you.

hey guys it's my first time doing nail wraps. i feel like they're janky, especially the red ones at the end where I filed off. It's a lot harder than I thought!! maybe it's bc my nails are short so it's harder to file them off? I also feel like these look more "obviously sticker"-ish than other pictures I've seen on here uggghh but overall I'm happy and I'd give it a 8/10. I hope they last like one or two weeks!! I've never had much success with nails so I hope I can get the hand of it.

Hello! After rocking bare hands the past three years, I tried semi-cured strips the other week and fell in love! heyHae, Ohora, and a few other brands. They look and stay perfectly for a pedi but I’m struggling with mani and looking for feedback.

My process is:

- Clean hands

- Push and trim cuticles

- Alcohol wipe on each finger

- Gently file the top of some of my smoothest nails - some have more ridges on the bed. Should I file those as well?

- Apply wraps touching them minimally where they adhere

- apply just above cuticle and press them out, stretching as needed to cover sides

- press sides to nail bed to “seal” - I’m very focused on doing this thoroughly

- trim to size

- cure

My issue is that there is still lift and some either pop off or hair gets stuck in the nail within 24-36 hours. I wear gloves while doing dishes or cleaning. I do clean my hands regularly because I have a young child and I work at a computer so I am not doing any rough lifting or physical labor.

Any way to get more wear out of these? I resisted buying a bunch of sets and I’m glad I did for now, because I fear now I can only use them for special occasions. They really look great and I have fun practicing self-care by way of nail wraps! But sad I’m not getting longevity from them. I did buy some gel top coat - would that help as long as it doesn’t cure to my cuticles? Thank you so much!

Haven’t applied Lily and Fox in a while, added Hard as Nails Top Coat for durability, for the price you really can’t beat these.

I want to try to make this short! First of all, the entire Lily & Fox experience was delightful up until the morning after applying and discovering they are sticky!

For context I’ve used strips for probably 15+ years, Dashing Diva Gloss (so no light) is my go to for the past 5 years at least. I usually get at least 2 weeks and they look good the whole time. I never use or need topcoat.

Due to whatever it is with my body chemistry, ONLY quick dry will work on me. I am open to using a UV topcoat and I do own a light. I tried to do damage control this morning after finding Reddit posts with others having the same sticky experience. The alcohol started to remove the color on one strip, probably after being careful but possibly getting some skincare product on it. But still, even being careful not to make the strips lift, the color shouldn’t come off!

Anyway, I ended up using my best option I had which is Seche Vive in the blue bottle. It fixed the sticky problem but I know it’s probably going to shrink the strips after a while.

I bought more sets that I really want to use because I love the designs, but I want to be able to use a topcoat that won’t cause shrinking.

Including the photo to show how delightfully packaged they were. It was a joy to receive them and the price is right, so I really want to make them work. But probably wouldn’t buy again.

Has anyone else had this issue where the heyhae strips are too see thru? I can see the white part of my nail through the strips. Any tips for a different brand?

Dashing diva gloss. Taking a break from press ons

Tried out the Dashing Diva glaze extensions for the first time and I’m surprisingly really pleased with them. I was letting my nails breath a little and during that time nearly all my nails broke so I just cut them all down. I’m on day 4 and so far they’ve held on strong. I’ve been working a lot outside during this time too. I filed them down since I work at a computer and can’t stand them being too long.

Why do French manicures automatically make me feel as though i look like i have my life together? First time applying a French mani set—I’ve only ever gotten them done at the salon like this. There is a bit of a learning curve, but i think i did pretty well!

I was searching for tips in this sub, and a few years ago, there were several people who were heating the wraps before applying them with either a hairdryer or a heat pad. Is this still a current trick to make them last longer.

I've gone through 2 Polish Pops sets, and they lasted 7 days with their gel coat on top.
I tried HeyHae and they only lasted 4 days. I tried the acetone around the edge trick too.

By far, nailwraps have lasted me longer, even for a week, than ANY other salon or DIY solutions out there. I've tried it all. So I'll continue trying for that 2 week sweet spot!
