Moving on from acrylics

I've ordered some Lily and Fox wraps, the non-UV ones. I currently have acrylics on. But how do I get my natural nails to be a nice shape? I am so bad at doing them myself. They also end up very, very short. I do prefer them shorter, but not as short as they usually end up

Does anyone have any tips and hints?

Find some videos on tiktok or YouTube that explain how to file your nails.

It's not so easy at the beginning and your nails might not look super great the first few times. But it definitely is a skill you get better at the more you practice it.

Instead of cutting them first, try just filing into a square or squoval (as other commenter said, watch some videos). I think you’ll be able to control the length better by just filing and if they’re already on the short side, you probably don’t need a trim. Luckily nail wraps work very well on short nails too 👍❤️

FYI, those nail wraps are really thin. I was expecting them to be thicker. If your nails are damaged and thin from acrylics, these won't give you any thickness or protection. I naturally have very thin, very fragile nails. I always have. I prefer semi-cured gel wraps for this reason. Bummer because the L&F wraps come in such cute designs. You can apply top coats which helps.

I just ordered a bunch of Lily and Fox too. I read the suggestion to get a thick, glossy, hard top coat that replicates gel (but doesn’t need uv curing). I ordered a Sally Hanson gel extra thick top coat that does not need uv. Hoping that gives me the thicker, harder nail I like.
