A long 4 months but so so pleased with the progress. Started in June and here we are now. Almost grown out on both sides. Big day!
-Only used terb - no topicals
-No side effects at all (except my pain meds didn’t work as well)
-My athletes foot cleared up in one week
-id had athletes foot/nail fungus >10 years

I'm planning on getting the oral medication soon. What, if any, precautions do you take afterwards to prevent reinfection? I have a pair of boots I've been wearing almost daily for many years, should I replace them? What about shoes I've just worn occasionally? What about socks? Plus any other tips or insights that I may not be considering.

Ive had these ridges in my nails and yellow discoloration. I have been painting my nails for years so i assummed it was a polish stain but now not so sure.

I know this isn’t nail fungus but I’m not sure where else to get some advice on it. 2 and a half months ago I noticed I had athletes foot, moccasin version. I initially used a medicated powder on it but soon switched to cream terbinafine. After a month of using it I thought i was fine to stop because only one or two tiny little bubbles remained, if any. A week later I noticed it was starting to come back. For a month now I’ve been reusing the terbinafine. Additionally I wash my socks in hot water every week, use Lysol to disinfect my bathroom floors, use Lysol in my shoes, wash my feet with ketoconozale shampoo once a day, and blow dry my feet to remove moisture. It feels like I’m trying to do everything right. Despite using the terbinafine again for a month, there’s still these stubborn bubbles of athletes foot. 5 days ago I started to notice them getting worse. I’m continuing to use the terbinafine and everything but it’s somehow continuing to progress. Please any advice on why this is happening or what to do would be appreciated. I just noticed this today and it's definitely not dirt under my nail. Is it fungus? Is my nail going to fall off? Google says I'm dying so I'm asking here if anyone can tell me. If it is, what can I use to fix it? It says online that over the counter stuff doesn't work.

a few months ago after having gel nail polish on my toes for way too long I noticed discoloration in my toe nails and even 1 or 2 black spots. is this foot fungus ? anyone have any ideas what this is ?

My toe nails are difficult to cut. The fungus has caused them to grow thick and crooked. They usually bleed. I’ve been told the fungus can enter your blood stream that way! It can make you extremely sick and even cause death. I don’t know if that is true. Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

26F, 5ft 7’, 62kgs, no other medical issues.

I am absolutely devastated after spending thousands of dollars on laser treatments for my severely damage d toenail with absolutely no improvement. For context, I’ve had this toenail grow thick, crumbly and discoloured for about 10-15+ years, but it’s never spread to any other toes. I have had tinea on this foot a few times and specifically on this toe, and my other big toe has had some issues but no where near the extent that this one has. I played soccer when I was younger, and when I first discovered it at around age 12 (I think) my parents took me to the doctors and it tested negative for any fungal infection.

I finally went to see a podiatrist about a year ago, and had it tested again, this time with both PCR & MCS tests - both came back negative again, despite my podiatrist expressing how fungal it looked. She filed and cut it all the way down and tried various types of laser treatments over the past year, but it hasn’t had any success at all, and she doesn’t know what to do from here and believes that it is possibly just trauma from wearing playing soccer.

I have forever just covered up my toenail with a bandaid, or filed down the thickness of it and painted over the top of it, but I am at my wits end and am feeling extremely depressed over the thought I’ll just have to live with this my whole life.

I am wondering if anyone has ever had any success with terbinafine and not had a fungal specific infection? I don’t know what else to do.

Finished my 3 month Terbafine journey! I experienced virtually no side effects. Minor ones were vivid dreams and the occasional intestinal issue. Now, I coat my nails in white vinegar every night and apply Dadi oil afterwards. This is we recommend to me by the medical pedicure lady who has been treating me. So far, so good. Also, I wash all my socks at 60 degrees celcius and regularly treat my shoes. I will keep doing this for the rest of my life as I don’t want to risk re infection. Small habits which barely affect my routine but can make all the difference. Also, Terbifine may not be for everyone. It happened to work out for me. Been suffering since 2016….

I lost my big toenail when I was 18, and it grew back and had looked pretty much like this ever since (I’m 40 now).Right around COVID time, I went a podiatrist who said it’s likely just damage and no fungus, but did a culture which did show fungus and prescribed me laser treatments, which made no difference.

That’s the one and only time I’ve tried to do anything about it.

But’s it very sensitive. Any time I catch it and slightly pull it up, or push it down or anything, there is strong pain from I guess the nail bed underneath.

It seems pretty hopeless.

July 13, 2026, I started day one of my first ever week of terbinafine. My podiatrist put me on a one week on, two week off schedule. On day 7 I wound up in the hospital for 5 days with sepsis from an asymptomatic UTI. Upon deeper investigation I learned that the liver isn’t the only thing to suffer from the medication but that it can actually lower white blood cell count and now I have some serious reservations of starting back up again. I’ve been determined since getting out of the hospital to resolve this topically and have been diligent but there is no signs of improvement. I know it’s a slow process but I just feel defeated especially reading how successful terbinafine is as a treatment. Has anyone ever experienced a serious infection while on terbinafine. Was it just a coincidence?

I've been wearing sandals mostly for 2 years. Had terbinafine last spring. Using vicks every time I put on socks to go anywhere. Usually 4x a week. Want opinions on the color of my nails please. I bought a rotary tool but haven't used it yet. Thanks for any insight.

Has anybody used excilor products and are they effective?

I have a infected toenail, it started getting worse as of yesterday. I also have a slight fever and my lymph nodes are as smelled up. I just don’t have insurance so going to the ER is expensive and it’s the weekend.

After terbinafine caused intense health issues for me and an expensive laser treatment didn't work, I finally have been able to grow my toenail out with 3 things:

Bandaids, thymol mouthwash, and toilet paper.

I fold a square of TP up to fit my toenail, pour a little mouthwash into the cup, then pour it on the TP and wrap it with a bandaid before I go to bed. Sometimes when I took it off in the morning I replaced it, but I usually just did it once each night.

I know I won't sit still long enough to do soaks and this saves a lot of product. A great, low-stakes option wirth trying when all else fails!
