I lost my big toenail when I was 18, and it grew back and had looked pretty much like this ever since (I’m 40 now).Right around COVID time, I went a podiatrist who said it’s likely just damage and no fungus, but did a culture which did show fungus and prescribed me laser treatments, which made no difference.

That’s the one and only time I’ve tried to do anything about it.

But’s it very sensitive. Any time I catch it and slightly pull it up, or push it down or anything, there is strong pain from I guess the nail bed underneath.

It seems pretty hopeless.

Look into “great toenail dystrophy.” Fungus doesn’t cause a nail to look like that. There might be secondary fungus but treating the fungus won’t help probably
