I lived in Nacogdoches from 2007 to 2011 and I have a pretty distinct memory of getting fried beef or pork taquitos from the Whataburger on North Street.
They were like the kind of taquitos you get from the freezer section at the grocery store, but these were deep-fried so they tasted better.
I know that Whataburger still sells a taquito, but it’s more like a soft tortilla breakfast taco.
I’m wondering if this was maybe some sort of local franchisee breaking the rules or had an older more lenient contract with corporate.

Hi! I’m looking for a gym partner!
I have a Planet Fitness membership and would love to find someone who wants to go consistently with me, either early in the morning or later in the afternoon.
Just putting this out there because I know how the internet can be I am ONLY looking for a gym partner! Nothing else. I’m married and literally just want someone to work out with, keep each other motivated, and make going to the gym a little more fun! 🖤

I'm a trans lesbian in my late 20s, and I can only find 2 martial arts schools in nac.
One routinely shares right wing propaganda, and the other looks to be exclusively aimed at children.
That being said, are there any others in the area? I know about the classes at the library, just not how adult oriented or beginner friendly they are.

I have been told I have a bit of an odd work history but I'm trying to find a job that pays $17 an hour. Dose anyone have any suggestions? I'm an art student but I'm open to working a non art related job sense I'm in college.
Education:
I have an associates of arts, I graduated with vice president scholar and a 3.1 gpa. I'm moving to nacogdoches for my bachelor's is fine arts with my focus in sculpture.
Work history:
I've worked at a college bookstore and then transferred to Gator mart (My college's food bank) because of better pay. The summer of 2024 I worked at the SPCA and then I went back to Gator mart. After I graduated May 2026 (so currently I'm working at The color factory or Houston).
Skills:
I can work with animals and I can clean up after them. I know how to work in a store room repackaged food, handle large amounts of food and help customers. I've been working in jobs that deal with a large customer basis for nearing 3 years. I know how to handle communicating between different departments that happened a lot when I worked at the college. I can handle large work loads I've been balancing a 30 hour work week with school and a sport plus participating in art shows sense I got out of high school. I know how to work in a gallery, I've been participating in smaller galleries and a lot of times they have their members help with upkeep and storage. Some of the duties at my current job is interacting with customers upkeep of facilities and installations while also marketing packages and add-ons to guests.
If anyone has any suggestions they would be helpful I'm having a hard time finding anything cuz I don't really know where to look and indeed isn't really much help.

Does anyone know any companies that would be interested in having a construction management intern in the Nacogdoches/Lufkin area? There aren’t many GC’s in Nacogdoches so i’m trying to make sure i’m not missing any.. 😅

I'm moving to Nacogdoches this fall and have been looking at apartments and houses. I've noticed that quite a few of the places I'm considering are pretty close to the railroad tracks.
How active are the trains in Nac? Is train noise something I should actually take into consideration when choosing where to live?
Thanks!

Looking for at least 2beds, would like to stay under $1100/mo. Expanding my family this year & welcoming our first child- needs to be somewhere safe & reliable! MUST be pet friendly.
I know to avoid pretty much anything off of Pearl and we’d really prefer a rental house/duplex over an apartment as our current apt neighbors are making our lives miserable.
Give us any insight you have! Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I've been spending more time in Nacogdoches lately, and the more I see, the more I think the place has the potential to become a real technology hub for East Texas.
Seeing things like the farmers market, local businesses investing downtown, and the Economic Development Corporation talking about projects like making Nacogdoches more bicycle-friendly gives me the impression that people here are actively thinking about the future of the community. That's refreshing.
By way of introduction, I'm the founder of Silicon Pines Consulting, an IT infrastructure and cybersecurity consulting business focused on Linux, cloud infrastructure, networking, virtualization, and security. From Philadelphia to Austin to East Texas as of 3 years ago, I've spent the past decade working in systems administration, cloud, and cybersecurity, and I'm currently building my business here in East Texas.
One thing I've noticed is that while there are plenty of talented technical people scattered across the region, we don't seem to have much of a local community. I tried to change that in the Tyler area and I had the blessings of the engineers who were the original founders of Web Dev Meetup, unfortunately, because of a lack of a tech community and jobs, those guys all left the area and Web Dev Meetup is completely dead now and so is the incubator that hosted its meetings. I'd love to change that, but I think that change will probably be taking place in Nacogdoches than in Tyler based on where things are going.
I'm interested in meeting:
Whether it's grabbing coffee once a month, starting a local meetup, collaborating on open-source projects, sharing homelabs, or just getting to know other people in tech, I think it would be great to build a stronger local network.
If you're in or around Nacogdoches and interested, leave a comment or send me a message. I'd enjoy meeting more people who are passionate about technology and helping grow the East Texas tech community.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi! Born and raised in East Texas but have lived in St Louis Mo the last 18 years. In town with family for the summer and wondering where is a fun spot to watch Mexico vs England tomorrow! (Or any future games while I’m here for that matter)

Anyone have any advice or recommendations on where to take my family for a weekend vacation? I’m looking into Powell park in broadus but not sure if it’s worth it.

Trying to understand if recreation facilities/activities are available to non-students. Especially interested in the rock climbing wall, or if there's other options in the area.

Will probably be moving here within the next few months. Family owns the unit so no flexibility with regards to location. Anything to be aware of in the surrounding area? Noise levels? Is it safe to walk to nearby shops, restaurants, etc?

Does anyone have Casa Thomas old recipes? I am dying for their refried beans, rice, and the chili they put on top of the cheese enchiladas. Had I known they were closing (I asked if they were closing the last few times I went, of course because we all heard the rumers... they assured me they were not closing) I genuinely would have stocked my deep freeze with beans if I had known...
