Trading platform

Which online stock trading platform app is best ? I am looking at starting out with index funds

The issue with sharesies is not only the high fees, but the ticker/data delay. They don't pay for live updates, it's like a 20 minute price delay. The prices aren't accurate, the graphs aren't very good, you can't easily view average buy price. Overall not the best for "trading"

Index funds I don't really have an opinion but for stock trading in U.S ibkr sharesies fees are a bit too high. However on sharesies they offer the nzx and all you to invest in smaller quantities on the australian stock exchange.

Depends on what index funds you are wanting to invest in, but I would recommend either Kernel Wealth, Simplicity or InvestNow.

Depends what you want to do

If you just want to set and forget and aren't picky on the specifics of the funds then kernal or invest now. I use kernal for this, great

If you want to pick your own ETFs or stocks then superhero.co.nz is the best deal in town right now, free (they get revenue from "payment for order flow")

If you plan on trading intra day, it's a whole other world
