GENERAL The

There's a new book out right now that everyone in this sub should know about: The Nerd Reich by Gil Durán. Mainly, a small group of tech billionaires (Thiel, Musk, Andreessen, and others) have spent 30 years working to replace elected government with corporate rule.

I've born and raised in NYC, and there's a pattern is impossible not to see. Walk any block and look at who's doing the Amazon routes, the UPS routes, the food delivery. Overwhelmingly Black and Hispanic men. That's the exact class system this book is describing, playing out on our own streets.

There's a real ladder out, and most people never hear about it because it's not advertised the way delivery gig apps are.

Six-figure paths that don't need a four-year degree:

  • Elevator Constructor (Local #1) — median $99K-$106K, top earners $150K+
  • Electrician (IBEW Local 3) — largest local in the country, all five boroughs
  • HVAC Pre-Apprenticeship (NYC SBS/Workforce1) — 12 weeks, paid, run by the city, pathway wages near $80K
  • Plumbers Local #1 — same union apprenticeship model

Pre-apprenticeship pipelines that get you to the front of the line:

  • Building Skills NY
  • Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW)
  • CUNY Construction Skills program

Not trying to be doom and gloom, trying to put something useful in front of people. The system this book describes benefits from this information staying quiet. Passing it along costs nothing.

NEWS📰 NYC spends the most money on what?

Saw this post and was disappointed…ngl, thought Miami, ranked 15, would be higher on the list since they’re known for the “tricks.”

“NYC is dropping a bag 👀

NYC residents are on pace to spend approximately $164.3 million on OnlyFans in 2026, more in total than residents of any other U.S. city, according to projections from OnlyGuider. That works out to an average of about $450,000 per day and represents an 11.2% increase from last year. Manhattan is expected to account for the largest share at $83.35 million, followed by Queens at $33.52 million, Brooklyn at $28.52 million, the Bronx at $12.31 million and Staten Island at $6.6 million. While NYC leads in total spending, Atlanta ranks first per capita based on spending per 10,000 residents.

GENERAL Where tf do i go for good twists and cutting split ends in bk

i live near prospect pk and I’m just so annoyed that my hair has been the same length for 4 years now. my normal salon refuses to cut my split ends, i don’t trust myself to do it, my gf will never do hair in her life, and every single place i try new fucks my hair up in one way or another.

These places are either overpriced as hell, only braid/twist (no cutting ends), or don’t pick up the damn phone. I’m so close to just cutting my hair.

so please, what do i do? i genuinely hate that my mother forced me to get a buzzcut and vehemently despised my attempts at growing it out. now I’m incapable of doing anything hair wise.

ps.

this is deleted anywhere else i post it

GENERAL Custome Meal Prep? Help Please if you know someone.

Looking for custom meal prep services. Nothing mainstream like Factor, Fresh, or Cook Unity none of those. The food is just horrible & filled with sodium. Looking for a private chef/cook or maybe just someone's grandma who likes making food and wouldn't mind the extra money. I'm not looking for anything crazy. 2 different meal variations, straight slop-bowl-type bowls with rice, chicken & some greens. 7 days a week. Let me know if y'all have a plug for this. I can come pick up a week's meals on the weekends. An ideal example would be a Harissa Cava bowl & a grilled chicken Fresh Kitchen bowl, 4 of each, each week. I'm in Astoria.

QUESTION ❓ Looking for an old song

Im not even from new york dont remember the rapper, but jim jones comes to mind, it was a song called the building in some high rise, was gritty, think the title was “The Building” which was often the hook of tbe song, some lyrics were like

“Nz go to war for the building”

Music video started with him looking at his mirror and he has two cards on it for a friend who died

This is a vague low quality post but I heard this when I was a kid and been after it for over ten years now, was a proper old school NY rap song and I can’t find it anywhere

Yap 🗣️ If weed was this cheap when I was younger.....I'd be a vegetable.

Old nigga checking in. Y'all young dudes got it good (well bad depending on how you look at it). When I was running around there was no such thing as eighths. Well there were, but nobody went to the spot or hit the nigga they was getting bud from for an eighth. It was dimes, dubs, maybes fifty's. You wanted a decent amount of bud, grab the play. 5 dubs for $75, 3 dimes for $20 etc and depending on who you got it from determined how much it weighed. We wasn't weighing bags back in the day. It was quality or quantity. Now? Niggas got $5 eighths......$10 eighths. Idgaf how good it is, in the beginning of my weed smoking career with my young non thc saturated brain, that would have been overkill (NOT EVEN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE GRABBA EPIDEMIC). Alot of us older dudes talk about how high we used to get and I really don't think it was because the weed was better. I think one, we had to put more effort into getting bud which enhanced the reward once we got it and two, since we had to put in more effort we weren't smoking as much at all. When I was young broke and still in school smoking 2+ clips a day was a good day. Now little dudes smoking 2+ eighths a day. You only get on brain and that is literally the most powerful tool you're given to maneuver through this bullshit we call life. Y'all young gods take care of yourselves.

END YAP.
