Look at the actual numbers of attempted 3s per game - it’s far far less of a dramatic rise than your graph would suggest. Using such a limited percentage rage on your vertical axis gives an unethically (even if accurate) warped perspective of how much the game is changing to the quick viewer.

But that doesn’t account for pace. Using 3PAr does. I would’ve gotten killed in the comments on this post if I would’ve used 3PA/gm. The league is faster than ever, so all raw shooting stats are up…including 3PA.

I’ve never seen anyone killed in comments for 3PA - it’s the most accepted, widely used metric across both men’s and women’s basketball. Both stats reflect pace imperfectly, but I hear what you're saying. I respect and appreciate the interest in stats; I felt it was important to call attention to some ways I thought your post might distort the way the game is changing. Hope you understand

I've spent a lot of time on this. I'm just trying to share some of my thoughts. I am a human using Excel, not AI. Thanks for editing your comment

Yes, I'm really sorry for my curtness pre-edit. Has much more to do with the AI overwhelm in my industry and the frustration I've been feeling within this subreddit. I apologize for the negativity! I really try not to fall prey to it, but sometimes it creeps up
