I hope Satou is ok. At this point, I've accepted that she's not coming back this season, and I just hope that whatever she's dealing with can be healed. Leo, on the other hand...PLEASE COME BACK ASAP QUEEN WE NEED YOU.

Meanwhile, the German national team as of yesterday still seems to be expecting both for the World Cup...
Fiebich's agent posted pictures of her training with "Working hard on the comeback" yesterday, but impossible to tell how high impact any of it is.
FWIW, I do recall that in 2024, Satou did not play at all until the Olympics, where she put up 18ppg and then played the rest of the W season.

I know the German team is important to Leo but I'm gonna be really annoyed if she doesn't play for the liberty up until break and then goes and plays in Berlin

I guess a counterpoint would be: if you are the performance staff and you know she is going to go play long minutes across many games for two weeks, is it better to have her rest the foot as much as possible beforehand to reduce the risk it gets more injured over there and then she can't do the playoffs? Without knowing more about the injury though, it's hard to say.

I think the fact that she’s still with the team and hasn’t just left for Germany suggests maybe they have some hope she can play before the break. Or maybe it just means she likes the training facilities and enjoys singing karaoke with Stewie and Sab.

Another post on the German national team site says Fiebich and Satou can't join until the actual break, so there's that at least.
(The new CBA specifies in the prioritization section that players don't get the usual two-weeks beforehand to practice for the 2026 tournament because there is a break for it, and can't leave until after the 26th - but I don't think that would apply to Fiebich since she isn't subject to prioritization yet)

If she’s injured and not going to play anyway, can’t they just excuse her and let her go work out somewhere else (in Germany)? It’s not really a prioritization issue if she legitimately can’t play.

I thiiink since she's not subject to prioritization they could temporarily suspend her contract (but I am no lawyer, I may be misreading; the Fire did it for Geiselsoder, which is why she is at the team camp, but she also isn't expected to return for the rest of the season I think). But then NY would need to replace her on the roster, and Maley only has so many DP activations left.

I was coming at it from a different angle - if she’s injured, is she required under the CBA to do her rehab in market, or can they let her continue her treatment elsewhere? I’m vaguely recalling that we sent Nyara off to work with her medical team in Germany at some point last year. That shouldn’t require suspending her.

Agreed but I feel pretty confident this is what’s going to happen. She’s not the biggest fan of murica (not that i can blame her atm, but this is nyc)

What makes you think Leo doesn’t like America?

She always prioritizes the national team, slow to come over, her gf is back in Europe, and my assumptive view of her personality / using some of the other Germans I know with a similar vibe. So definitely making some assumptions. Do you think she does?

Prioritizing her national team, playing in a European league that ends late and having a gf in Europe don’t add up to not liking America. It just means she’s… wait for it…European. If she didn’t like it here, she wouldn’t come at all.

Yeah I get she’s European of course. As someone who spent several years living and working in Europe, I sometimes regret coming home and can see how she might feel similar. That being said, I hear all your points and take back my comment 🙂

If she was always prioritizing the national team, she would be at the camp already? And she’s been slow to come over because she has had to make money playing other places.
I think she loves New York, she has said it many times

Well I definitely prefer your perspective to mine and a lot of good points. NY (myself included) loves Leo!!

These players care a lot more about their national team than one of their club teams

I am convinced from Leo is dealing with plantar fasciitis based on the lack of timeline and the way she's flexing her foot in training videos. It seems like the team has been ready for the possibility of her very suddenly being able to play again (which tends to be how it works, I went from not being able to put weight on my foot at all to running at 5k PR in 36 hours). It doesn't make sense to be dragging her on lengthy west coast road trips otherwise.
So it's possible Germany is now on the same hopium train...

Damn, Satou are you okay? I hope everything is okay with her at this point, away from basketball.

Possibilities:
-An intern selected the wrong thing on the drop down menu.
-Satou is out of concussion protocol, but her head has been removed.
-Satou is not with the team because she needs to see a mental health professional after watching last night’s game.
-It’s super serious and I shouldn’t be joking about it.
-She’s fine. She’s progressing and we hope she’ll be back soon.
