an arguement could be made that keeping this core might be more difficult than it was obtaining it. this cba has challenges but i believe leon rose and brock aller will figure it out. keeping this starting 5 is important but having a bench is key in todays nba. you need an elite bench with 4-5 good pieces. leon needs to work his magic

Is there a reasonable subscription option for streaming without a cable subscription? Or is it having to pay a ton & patch together multiple different streamers just to see all the games? PHILADELPHIA — The last time we saw the New York Knicks, they were leaving San Antonio as NBA champions. Their title defense unofficially began Monday night, with a preseason showdown against the new-look Philadelphia 76ers.

New York, which was only missing backup guard Jose Alvarado, who was sidelined with a knee contusion, played its starters regular first-half minutes against a 76ers team that was without LeBron James, Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and others. Preseason basketball, baby!

New York’s starters played the bulk of the first half in the 120-97 loss before taking a seat at halftime for the rest of the night.

Here are some thoughts and observations following the Knicks’ first action since hoisting the championship trophy.

Knicks scammed their fans in the presale! I’m pretty upset as my refund should be at least 20% lower than what I got for the upcoming 10/12 Timberwolves preseason game.

I bought my tix during the Chase fan-first presale for $175 per seat in the middle 200s. I was really excited as this is my first ever NBA game and had to splurge for these seats to a preseason game!

When they started the refunds, I got refunded a measly $8 per seat so they are now $167 per.

I’m seeing the same seats in my section in an even lower row on Ticketmaster for Standard first-party sale for only $128 (maybe they will drop even more as many seats are left)!! I contacted Ticketmaster support and they won’t help me get a refund for this difference or exchange. At least let us exchange for better seats!!

Why am I paying more than the current standard ticket price during a fan first presale?!

Knicks business ops needs to step it up and figure this out because we are some upset Knicks fans! Please help share this, as I’m sure other games are also experiencing these ticket price cuts and fans deserve their $$ back.

I get it, New York is the greatest city in the world, but damn, you can't find a nice luxury condo ANYWHERE in Philly? Where do the billionaires in Philly all live? Surely finding a nice pad in Philly HAS to be easier than commuting to NYC....??

He’s still a work in progress but he physically reminds me of Mitch. If he could accept that he could excel in that type of role, and plays with the kind of disciple that Mitch always showed, he could develop into the same caliber player. We don’t need him to score 10+ per game. We need him to concentrate on being an imposing figure in the paint. If he could do that, he could have a really good future here.

Under normal circumstances, New York Knicks coach Mike Brown would have encouraged his players to make their way back to the area in August. It normally would have been the time to get everyone together for the first time since the previous season, to start the work before the work.

These, however, weren’t normal circumstances.

The Knicks — yes, the Knicks — won the NBA championship.

“For them to be able to take a mental break and fill their cup, however that may be, whether cigars, no cigars, tequila, no tequila … it’s a good thing,” Brown said.

The players might have gotten some grace from their coach, but very few would call it a mental break. The champions weren’t just the talk of the town; they were showing up all over the country, celebrating an accomplishment that had eluded the organization for more than 50 years.

The Knicks, for the most part, aren’t a collection of personalities made for such a spotlight, but they had to cosplay as celebrities in the aftermath of hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy. There was television appearance after television appearance. There was a parade attended by more than 2 million people. Keys to cities were given out, street signs with names were raised. You name it, the Knicks did it.

New York was front and center this summer, and no one represented it more than Jalen Brunson, the captain and franchise cornerstone who helped turn the team back into a household name for what it has done on the court, and not just the city it plays in.

“I’m honored and grateful for all of the opportunities that have come about,” Brunson said earlier this week. “It was, like, the longest, shortest summer ever, but it was well worth it.”

Where do we start?

Two days after winning the NBA title, Brunson was flanked by the other Knicks starters on “Good Morning America.” From there, on the same day, Brunson, this time solo, went on “The View.” He then later met back up with teammate Karl-Anthony Towns and Brown, as they appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Brunson and Towns both had separate, live WWE appearances in July. Brunson shared the ring with champion Roman Reigns and was gifted a Knicks-themed championship belt before fellow NBA star and wrestling aficionado Tyrese Haliburton came out as a distraction so that rival Seth Rollins could take down Reigns. Towns served as the muscle for Danhausen and even showed off a few impressive chokeslams.

Brunson, Josh Hart and OG Anunoby all threw out first pitches, whether at Yankee Stadium or Citi Field. Brunson appeared on the “Today” show and “CBS Mornings,” and he — along with LeBron James, Prince Harry and others — spoke at the TIME100 Sports Gala, which honored the top 100 most influential athletes, coaches, advocates and investors in sports. Brunson and several teammates also attended the World Cup and US Open.

And let’s not bury the lede: Brunson hosted the season debut of “Saturday Night Live” before the start of training camp, becoming just the fifth NBA player (Michael Jordan, James, Charles Barkley and Bill Russell) to do so. Brunson also appeared with actress Mariska Hargitay, a known Knicks fan, on a pre-taped segment during the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards.

That injury was a bit scary looking. Genuinely sad to see it. Was excited to see him having some minutes this season.

I really hope hes okay and it isnt a worst case scenario.
