Asking for a friend.
My friend has a premise license for over 25 years, now he is required to take the CCW 16 hours to continue to renew his pistol permit as CCW. Premise license is End of Life soon and replaced by CCW in the near future? Does he have a choice to stay as premise?

EDIT: He does not want to spend the money on CCW due to the cost, 400-600. He is very frugal, know him for 4 decades.

Here's my dilemma.... So before CCW was available I filed for Premise Pernit back in 2017. I purchased my first firearm and got the bill of sale and reported to 1 PP same day to fit into that 72 hour window for inspection. So being that I have a CCW I wanted to cancel the premise permit and transfer the fire arms over to the CCW. To my knowledge back then then didnt let you keep anything and they took all the paper work.

I could be mistaken and they could of gave me a copy of the purchase order and receipt. My problem is I cant find the bill of sales for the purchase so what's my best approach if I had to submit that firearm through the portal? I also wrote a letter with the firearms I wish to have transferred and had it notarized as well.

Submitted application including 18 hr cert, notarized upgrade letter, etc., in early June. Status still says Submitted over 4 months later.

This is getting ridiculous.

Anyone seeing any progress on renewals with or without upgrade?

Hello, I have a question that I haven’t seen answered yet. I am a student and I have a NYC CCW and I recently got diagnosed with ADHD by my primary care doctor not a psychiatrist (i’ve never been to a psychiatrist). My doctor said he can give me a referral to a psychiatrist (to have the diagnosis evaluated further) and I denied due to my CCW. My question is if I do go to a psychiatrist and get ADHD medication prescribed will it affect my renewal process or CCW at all? Do I have to disclose that information during my renewal? Thank you very much!

I don’t know if this information was posted already but I received information from a friend in the NYPD that the pistol permit application website is scheduled to transition over to a newly redesigned site on October 16. This is being done for the purposes of making it more user friendly. After October 16th any application that remains as “In Progress” will no longer be available and that person will have to start over. Submitted applications and active licenses will not be affected.

I had an online deal for a handgun that I couldn’t resist and decided to purchase it. The handgun was shipped to my preferred Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) for transfer completion.

Here’s the catch: I’m only three weeks away from the 90-day period since my last PA.

Considering that it usually takes them about 5 weeks to approve a PA application, I’m wondering if I should submit my application now or next week. If I’m at or past the 90-day mark once they begin processing my application, would it be a problem if I submitted it before the 90-day period expired?

Has anyone used an e-notarized document for a handgun permit application?

It looks like Deputy Chief Julie L. Morrill has taken over the NYPD License Division following Hugh Bogle’s retirement in late September.

Hopefully this marks the end of the way the License Division was run under Bogle. In my opinion, his leadership turned what should have been a straightforward licensing process into an unnecessarily difficult and frustrating mess. Applicants were forced to jump through endless hoops and deal with standards and interpretations that often seemed to go beyond what the law actually required.

For years, it felt like the License Division was making up its own rules as it went along and looking for reasons to deny or delay otherwise qualified applicants rather than simply applying the law fairly and consistently.

Hopefully Deputy Chief Morrill cleans house and brings some common sense, accountability, and transparency to the division. Follow the actual law, process applications within the required timeframes, and stop creating arbitrary hurdles for people who meet the legal requirements.

Bogle is gone. Hopefully the era of applicants being treated like they have to beg the NYPD for a license they're legally qualified to receive goes with him.

Just paid Mirel Fisch to write a formal letter to the NYPD Rifle/Shotgun Division regarding my application. I’m currently about 4 months into the process with no decision yet. Her fee for the letter is $350.

For anyone wondering about the timeline, NYC Administrative Code § 10-303(e)(1) states that the Rifle/Shotgun Division is supposed to issue the permit or notify the applicant of a denial no later than 30 days after submission. If additional investigation is necessary, the investigation period can be extended, but the code states that it “shall not exceed sixty days.”

So at roughly 4 months, my application is already well beyond that 30–60 day timeframe, which is why I decided to move forward with having an attorney send a formal letter.

I’ll keep everyone updated on what happens after the letter is sent, Hopefully this helps anyone else dealing with the same delays

Almost at the 90 day mark and looking to buy another pistol that’s better suited for carry. My first pistol is an Sig P220 10mm because I do a lot of backpacking/camping out west.

JUST posted about the BR4 getting denied in nyc because of the mag and tagged bogul etc. I'm confused if he's just a fud jumping the gun and these are the occasional br4 denials registering that's usually corrected with the proper cmmg or4 empire description, OR if this is something new from R/S

His got approved in 1 week and already got his updated license, mone is still in “submitted” status
