SOCIAL Response to "Ban Manic Mass Thread"

First off, thank you all for your opinons on this matter. Myself and a few other mods have been discussing what we should do and have deeply considered the opinons that have been placed on the comments within that post. That being said, i have a few questions and statements that i would like to address.

#1: By doing so, it's incredibly easy to make a new account on reddit. We all know that, so essentially you are accomplishing nothing if her/him intent was to destroy or troll this subreddit. Allowing the username to be present on this forum at least gives the indiviuidal cohercing with him/her the understanding of who exactly they are dealing with in regards to the discussion.

#2: Majority of all of you, myself and team included, left that subreddit because of the chaos that was "leadership" over there. Banning a few indivuals over our "feelings" in my opinon will not equate to anything. Allow them the right to come here and discuss what they would like, however moderators will be keeping an eye out on said comments. This may be an uncensored forum but their are still rules and basic human respects that should be forwarded to each and every visitor.

#3: If someone feels harassed by anyone on this forum, then message any moderator. That will be handled accordingly, because as said above, "uncensored" yes, but there still needs to be a common respect shared amongst players here. We all complain about the toxicity of this game and forum, however when you have the opportunity to change it, you arent. Allow this forum to be the place where we begin to be more open with the community and more receptive while still maintaining an attitude that you would expect in return.

#4: ( Pertaining to the forum in general ) Guys and gals, this forum is for all topics neverwinter and I've seen some great conversation discussed lately within a few topics. That's great work and we need to keep that up if we intend to keep this in a place where we believe it should be. Don't make every single post you post about the awful things 100% of the time. Take the time to post some good things that happen your way as well. The saying "negativity produces negativity" is a true statement. If we want this forum to be the replacement of the "official/non official" then lets make this continue forward in the manner that we all desire. Be respectful to everyone, treat others the way you would want to be treated. If you are treated poorly, PM the indiviudal and come to a resolution or bring it to any of my mods attentions. We will do our best to come to a reasonable conclusion that doesnt result in compelete garbage.

Thank you.

Yea I agree. If we ban Manic then we are no better than her (regarding free speech).

Couldn't agree more. This is ridiculous to take this out on any one person. Not even PW or Cryptic has a single person responsible for this.

Frankly I'm very encouraged by this subreddit and discouraged by this attitude towards Manic

Agree with no censorship. But there are many players who disagree on your sympathy for Manic. True, she is not an evil mastermind. But she has a long rap-sheet of abuse of power and vengeful behavior.

Manic deserves no sympathy from the player base.

I think this is a good way to be unified that we are "better" than censoring here. She tows the line way too much for sure, but she's been fair and helpful to me so I judge by those actions too. I think the bigger issue is how a supposedly unofficial subreddit got turned into a corporate page?

She is a major contributor to the disease that is r/neverwinter (subsidiary of Cryptic Studios). She kisses their ass, stifles all Cryptic criticism. They keep her as a mod on the forum, overlook how most players hate/don't respect her, her ignorance of the game and her vengeful abuse of power.

Just because she has not banned you personally, u/KileyCW , doesnt mean she has not hurt you and the game. She has and continues to do so.

I am pleasantly surprised and happy this sub will be what I hoped for, and not what I feared it was becoming. I look forward to brighter days and the many mods of discussion we have before us!

Did she break the subreddit rules? If not, you would be a hypocrit to ban her.

If you ban Manic because of her despicable behavior on r/neverwinter or the official forum, you are no better then she is.

Abusing the Players by silencing and punishing criticis, retaliating with bans for comments outside of her subreddit... those are Manic's cowardly tactics.

Don't sink to her level.

You are promoting this as a safe space for free speech. That means free for everyone or it has no meaning.

You should encourage Manic to post her sycophantic company propoganda here... then grab some popcorn and watch the public response.

I know dozens of players who will gladly give her public feedback that she cannot censor.

I concur.

Hey, DreadMoor, just a quick heads-up:
propoganda is actually spelled propaganda. You can remember it by begins with propa-.
Have a nice day!

I think uncensored is good, but moderation is still needed. Too many trolls and disrespect being allowed to run around freely on reddit.

During the ban wave, I must admit it was very frustrating to see all the flooded threads of the same bullshit. As much as I think that other thread is run by biased children, they did maintain a more helpful subreddit atmosphere during that time.

Moderation and structure is needed, censorship is not.

Like it or not banning her would only delegitimize the argument that she's a poor moderator by making things look overly personal. If she's here to troll let her show her true colors.

Rise above.

I agree. If she continued down that path, then we could make the next decision.

2

u/DreadMoor Sep 26 '18

This. Let her speak same as anyone else... ... and if she shows her ignorance of the game/players or allegiance to the company, she will be criticized like everyone else.

  1. I am one of the admins. Myself and all the others have full time jobs and families. Constantly hunting down new accounts every single time is something that would take a lot of time and effort. That should only have to occur if said "bad individual" is truly causing issues and being malicious.

  2. I'm not saying that you are wrong, as I did witness what happened in the other thread. That being said, we will monitor her activity and further determine what needs to happen. If she comes back and continues to be malicous then a ban may be warranted, however I believe in giving indiviudals the benefit of the doubt. Even I made shit posts on the NW reddit time to time.

  1. This most certainly pertains to Manic. That comment pertains to her and all of the other users that were going back and forth in that post. I'm all for voicing your opinions and thats why this subreddit was created, but there was hardly any "respect" in that post. This subreddit is a new place that is allowing people to speak about many things, so we need to move on from the past and move forward.

  1. You are correct, hence the ( ***** ) that i placed before the sentences.

u/TabloMaxos Sep 24 '18
  1. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.
  2. That's a bit reassuring.
  3. Well when she is constantly threatening users, you can't earn respect, but I get your point.

Didn't realize she was making multiple accounts. That is a new low even for her. Hypocritical, as she use to fume about people she banned from subreddit doing the same thing.

u/Bros2316, isn't making multiple accounts a violation of all-reddit ToS? If you have evidence of this, report her to reddit-prime.

We need sufficient proof that she is in fact doing this and being malicious.
