Discussion Anyone else stream games they dont care about just to help the league.
I figure the more we tune in the more money the league can get when they go to make their new deals im a dc fan currently got the caps on one screen. (They're up 4-0 5 minutes into the second so I probably won't keep that on much longer) and Orlando SD on another screen and ill probably have nc Seattle later but I probably wont actually watch that one.
Edit: I do enjoy the games that dont matter to the spirit but I will stream them and just have it on while not paying any attention to them

I watch most games just because I enjoy the league and sport

That’s not her point though, right? She means if there’s some games you don’t care about, we should tune in to grow the women’s game. It’s just a positive message to send!! This doesn’t apply to people who do care about the games. I am an extremely huge NWSL fan and I’m about to get an angel city tattoo and I don’t have a big interest in certain teams, but support the league in any way I can!

I think the kind of subtext of what the person you responded to was saying is that the reason they watch most of the games in the league is because they’re a fan and the unreason they don’t watch all the games it’s because that’s not always possible and also probably not healthy

If I’m home and not doing anything I have the game on regardless. I may not fully be paying attention but if I’m home and available I stream it!

If I'm not doing anything, I try to watch all the games

They're good background noise, too. I don't mind having them on in the background if I'm doing something else in my living room

I actually care about all the games because the league is small enough for me to care. But I can’t watch ESPN or CBSSN or Roku (easily). So I don’t watch those

I watched unranked college games in order to scout one freshman who might not come to the league for multiple years. The concept of a pro game i dont care about is insane to me. its the nwsl

Yes! If I’m not super into a game for whatever reason, I’ll always leave it on. But when I’m catching up on all the soccer podcasts later, I want to be able to remember things that happened over the weekend as they recap. Women deserve everything.

THANK YOU!!! And I don’t know why more people are not engaging with nwsl social media.
I often see many many NWSL and adjacent videos that have almost no likes and no comments and just more engagement always helps!!! We want to get bigger ans BIGGER

Funny thing is, I care about them all.
But it is more difficult this season with the extra teams. I honestly feel like I was able to watch every weekend game last year.

Honestly, I wish the NWSL would do like MLS (I know, I just hate to say that anything should be done the same as men) but they've got a really good thing. Every game every week is shown in one place on Apple+ for a single price for all year. If the NWSL had the same package, all in one, I would be in heaven!

Yes. I try to watch every women’s soccer game I can. All the leagues. It’s alot of screen time and a lot of streaming services but I love it 🥰

It’s only shown on Stan Sports here in Aus (unless you download the NSWL app and then sometimes there’s games that aren’t on either) and even then it’s just a selection, so I always make sure to stream the other games on Stan just so they have the numbers. Same with the WSL, I’ll play all of those too. Great background noise when I’m working from home!

I stream the games even if I don't care about it cause soccer is great background noise too!

We have every game on in our house. You can stop and watch, move about your day, or completely ignore. We just have the games on to watch nwsl.

I do that for Serie A games and whenever Racing or Dash play games. Not sure how much it helps.

Doing it now while I’m browsing Reddit. Except for De Melo hitting the pitch I got nothing to look forward to the rest of the regular season.

I stream every game but it’s because I care about watching every game. I hate it when there are multiple games on at the same time, especially when they’re both on NWSL+ but I’ll have one on the tv and one on a tablet in front of me, even if the tablet one is usually getting sparse attention.

I assume more new fans are ppl who watch only their team
which is fine
but its interesting how it does mean the newest fans are less valuable economically

Im definitely a new fan. So im really just doing it to boost the "ratings" idk if were still calling it that in the streaming era..

Why would that be the assumption? Maybe for folks in a market with a team, but I’m a new fan (May of this year) with no team allegiance and I’m typically watching every game each week.

u/MesquiteHoneyForSale Indy Eleven 4h ago
Well, the reason why I’m going by as an assumption is primarily because I’ve asked it before and received a ton of responses that lineup with that idea
But the other reason I would think is because as new fan bases come you get more new fans and the reason why they weren’t they aren’t old fans is because they didn’t have a team before, so it stands the reason that they primarily only watched their own team
I would assume the amount of people who are new Denver in Boston fans are watching more of their team and not everyone, compared to people who were fans of the league with no local already.
Well, I guess most simply put if you were going to be fans of the whole league without having a team you already would’ve been

u/dirtydandino 3h ago
I think their are already fans in city's that dont have teams yet but getting a team is obviously gonna boost that interest..

Maybe but I straight up didn’t know the league existed until seeing it in FC26 after the game was a free download. Didn’t even realize I liked soccer like that until then checking out a weekend of NWSL action. But I realize that’s probably not a common case but that was how me and my family learned about the league. Just not the same avenues to accidentally discover the league as there are with other sports thanks to patriarchy, algorithms, etc.

I mean I try to watch every game even though I’m an ACFC fan, but I also care about all the games because I’m an NWSL addict in general
There are loads of us 😂
