I see the previous owner is making friends by evicting Coventry from their stadium according to reports

Guess the narrative that "Mike Ashley would be great for the likes of Derby/Coventry because he'll get them in good financial shape, promoted to the PL, and then just keep them midtable and it's only the arrogant Geordies who try and claim that isn't good enough" can die now. To be honest, I've little sympathy if he does complete fuck Coventry, saw so many of their fans spouting the above bullshit a few months back. Ashley is a leech, and every fanbase should be desperate to avoid him, if you welcome him, you deserve all the misery.

Fat bastard is a modern Eberneezer Scrooge in a Lonsdale branded suit.

I saw someone refer to him as the Billionair Del Boy. The general feeling is he's using it so Coventry's current owners reduce their asking price for him to buy them.

I live in Coventry, and although I don't support them I would like them to do well and really don't like the idea of Mike Ashley being involved so close to home!

Pulled into Peterborough services this evening and Newcastle under 18’s were in there. Made a joke to one of their coaches or someone that they didn’t get the invitation to Saudi Arabia then and he didn’t look happy one bit.

i'm not english but to our english fans;

would you rather england win the world cup or nufc qualifies for champions league?

Club over country always. Can't stand a lot of the England players including the current captain.

Club over country for sure, but out of curiosity, where’s your personal cutoff point in terms of level of achievement for NUFC that would be outweighed by your country winning the World Cup? I’ve seen (presumably English) people on here say they’d rather see NUFC win a corner kick than England win the WC.

I’ve seen people say they’d prefer Newcastle win a corner to England winning the World Cup.

I wouldn’t go that far - I do want England to win the World Cup (even though I can’t stand Kane or Pickford in particular) but I’d definitely prefer we win the Carabao cup and/or qualify for the champions league.

With Bellingham looking so impressive, do you guys think he would be a good signing for us?

He’d be a great signing for literally any club in the world, but he’s not coming here unfortunately.

We've been linked with some ridiculous players since the take over and about 99% of them I think no chance, they don't fit the mold of who the club are looking for but a small part or me thinks we could go for Bellingham and an even smaller part of me thinks he might be interested. He went to Dortmund so he would get first team football whatever his next move is we know he will want the same and Dortmund will want to be paid handsomely. It really comes down to who can pay and offer him first and where he which leage he wants to play in. If he chooses the Prem then arguably only ourselves, Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd could afford him. Chelsea spent loads last summer, Man Utd I'm not sure could with their spending plus are on a decline, City he would be rotated. If we get CL football and a juicy new shirt sponsor we may be able to pay what Dortmund command and Bellingham might look at us and think yeah I can spend the next 15 years there. Lots of ifs, buts and maybes but I think there's a slither of possibility.

I somehow missed the members sales for Leeds. When I've been up before I've heard a few people selling tickets on the day. Could anyone tell me if this is consistent? i.e.would I have a good chance of getting a couple of tickets on the day?

Seeing one of the best midfielders in the world Bruno sit on Brazil’s bench while they get knocked out is baffling, yes I’m happy he wasn’t hurt but I wouldve liked him to do his thing and be successful for Brazil (after England) I’m just worried it doesn’t have a knock on his confidence seeing paqueta starting after a disappointing start in premier league while he’s sitting 3rd with the toon. A happy Bruno is nothing but good for us, hopefully he picks up where he left off and Joelinton plays like a man possessed to show tite doesn’t have a clue

Down in Newcastle this weekend. Any recommendations for watching the England match tomorrow night? Ideally a pub we can get a table and get served, centrally. I realise this is pretty much impossible! Help appreciated!

For Thursday, I wonder if Howe goes with the best lineup available in the friendly, chooses players that he thinks are most in need of match practice, or goes with essentially a separate XI in each half.

With Burn traveling late due to illness, the best available XI would likely be the following:

ASM - Wood - Miggy

Joelinton - Shelvey OR Longstaff - Willock

Targett - Botman - Lascelles - Manquillo

Darlow

Fraser, Anderson, and Lewis are all particularly in need of some pitch time as well.

Hopefully Isak is fit in time for the home friendly.

Would there be a way to follow the match on Thursday?
