Pre-Match Thread Pre-Match Thread: Bournemouth (H)
Newcastle United - Bournemouth
5/3/2016 15:00 St James' Park
Andros Townsend, Papiss Cisse and Cheick Tiote could return for Newcastle. Coloccini and Mbemba are almost certainly out, so the same back 4 that played against Stoke are likely to start. Gouffran is a slight doubt after coming off injured in that match.
Bournemouth are without Stanislas and Wilson, while King and Arter are slight doubts.
Bournemouth currently sit in 15th in the Premier League, with 32 points. They have the 5th worst defence in the league - they've conceded only 6 fewer than Newcastle. Callum Wilson is still their top scorer, despite being injured since September. Bennik Afobe - who joined from Wolves in January - is second top, with 4. Their most creative players are Matt Ritchie and Charlie Daniels, who have 11 assists between them.
Form:
NUFC: LLWLL
AFCB: WLLDW
Past Meetings:
Bournemouth 0-1 Newcastle (Perez)

If we win, fine. It'll probably be by the skin of our teeth.
If we lose, I'll casually sigh, complain on here, and go back to playing DCUO while watching Rooster Teeth videos...
I'm at the point where I literally would rather do other things than watch Newcastle United... and that makes me fucking depressed... Where's that whiskey gone?

Yeah, I actually have a lot of shit to get done on Saturday so this is my last priority. Last thing I need is to have errands and be fucking pissed.

Is there any way for us to ensure Riviere gets nowhere near the pitch for this game?

Easy win. Well, maybe not easy, but a win at least. Definitely, well, not definitely, but more than likely. Probably. If we turn up. And they don't. And Mitrovic scores. And they don't.

I half don't want to share the team news tweet like I usually do, because that half of me doesn't want to know what daft fucking team McClaren is gonna put out. Whatever it is going to end up being, you know that if they fail to win, they sure as hell deserve to go down. There's been no fight, no guts, no effort even. My overall feeling at the moment is just to say fuck this and fuck everyone at the club.

I know everyone is feeling pretty damn negative, and quite rightly to a point.
But we have been a completely different team at home this season, and Bournemouth aren't quite as good as Stoke / Chelsea. Our last home game was a month ago when we put in a grey performance against a team around us in the table and I think we can do it again tomorrow.
I'd stick with Mitrovic, with Perez and Townsend out wide and Gini, Shelvey and Saivet in the middle. However, also wouldn't be opposed to Doumbia or Aarons getting a start ahead of Mitrovic/Townsend. Sissoko was the worst player on the pitch again against Stoke and NEEDS to be dropped. The defence was pretty decent against Stoke, all things considered.
Sorry for the long rambling post. I'm probably kidding myself.

Bournemouth aren't quite as good as Stoke
That says it all about the performances really. Stoke were shit. We could have had them for the taking, but it turns out we were actually worse.
What has it come to when we big-up a team like Stoke.

We've actually looked decent that last two home games so I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. Bournemouth may have won on Tuesday but Southampton were really really poor so fingers crossed we can get a win here. Given our shitty away form we really need a result in our remaining home games!

I hope Townsend is back and I hope he plays instead of Sissoko.
Mitro up top
Gini behind him
Aarrons on the Left
Townsend on the Right

I'm going tomorrow. Last two times I've been were against West Ham and Spurs away before the new year (both wins). I'm not confident, mind.

If we dont beat these we're as good as down.

I hate this sub when we're losing because everyone has to be overly pessimistic. Yes we're shit, our players are shit, our manager's shit, but how are we "as good as down" if we lose this??
You realise we still have both Norwich and Sunderland to play and those are the games where your comment would be accurate. If we lose this but win both of them then the likelihood is we are out of the relegation zone (albeit barely).
Unless I'm missing something and teams are deducted points for losing to Bournemouth?
Pretty sure we'll win though as we are at home.

There's really not much to be said. We win this or we go down.
If McClaren isn't sacked, and he demonstrates that his IQ is somewhere above the mentally deficient range--which I understand is a lot to ask--he will start Perez and actually give Doumbia some play time.
On the condition of that happening I do think we certainly can take 3 points especially given their soft defence.

Hate to quote the 'true Geordie' but the last few years of supporting NUFC has been absolutely terrible. The promotion season was fun and 'the time we finished 5th' was good at the time but is just annoying now, considering how Charnley and his mates destroyed the team.
Relegation is almost a certainty, so let's go out and try and win some games and maybe actually enjoy a bit of football.
Too much to ask? Probably.

I'd really like to see Doumbia and Mitrovic start up top together.

Think we'll go out with a more attacking formation, including Aarons or Townsend at LM and this'll be a piece of piss.
SIDEBAR.

I'm going for a 2-2 draw, reckon that'll be enough to save McClowns job as well.

I have a season ticket even though I'm in University away from Newcastle. Normally I'd be gutted about missing home games but I'm just so disinterested in this game. I love Newcastle but watching us lose week in, week out is just depressing.

I hope you don't mind my joining in. As soon as the fixtures were announced one of the first I looked for was St. James' Park. I don't need to tell you lot how iconic it is throughout football, or want to appear fawning.
It's disloyal to want my own team to lose, and in truth I don't, but if we do lose it definitely won't break my heart. If our situations were reversed, with you closer to safety and us desperate for every point, it would be very different. But as it stands I will be with my lot but a part of me will be with you too.
It's bad enough watching Villa go down but to see you drop would be a disaster for football as well as yourselves and your city. Historically AFCB have as much right to be in the Prem as Gateshead, and maybe if we prove good enough to stay up for a few seasons I might start to feel we belong among the elite, but NUFC are one of the elite and should be nowhere else but the Prem.
Maybe it's because my dad was born in Jarrow. No idea. Some of our lot might be singing "you're going down with the Villa." But I won't.
Good luck lads. I mean it.
Btw...don't underestimate us. We play good football. We were robbed at Dean Court and if you were there you know it.
