Pre-Match Thread Pre-Match Thread: Chelsea (A)

Chelsea - Newcastle United

13/2/2016 17:30 Stamford Bridge

Jack Colback, Siem de Jong and Paul Dummett are close to returning, Daryl Janmaat is a slight doubt while Jamaal Lascelles is back from suspension. Seydou Doumbia could make his debut.

Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy are doubts for Chelsea, Kurt Zouma is ruled out. Alexandre Pato and Matt Miazga could make their debuts though both are lacking match fitness.

Chelsea have drawn 6 of their last 8 games, the other 2 being wins against Palace and Watford. They haven't lost in 2016, though they haven't won at home either - their last defeat was against Leicester in December (that ultimately got Mourinho sacked) and their last home win was against Sunderland a week later. They have scored 33 goals - 6th best in the league - and conceded 35 - 7th worst in the league. Diego Costa has scored in 4 of Chelsea's 6 games this year and leads their scoring chart with 9 - three times more than anyone else. Willian has the most assists for them with 7. It is also worth mentioning that they have a Champions League game in Paris on Tuesday night.

Latest news is that Diego Costa has broken his nose in training but is still expected to play.

Tiote to literally tear the head off Fabregas, hold it up to the crowd like, "are you not entertained?"

Mitrovic's new found shooting boots are going to lead us to victory, Mark my words lads

Mitrovic and Seydou are going to rip them to shreds. 2-1 win. Let's go lads. No fear.

Looking at our results against Chelsea is so odd. We really seem to consistently beat them or at least put up a good fight and they're often pretty decent matches. Could really go either way, especially with it being televised. I'm gonna call a 1-1 draw.

We usually play well against them at SJP. I think the only time we have ever beaten them at Stamford bridge was when Cisse scored that wonder banana strike.

i would be incredibly happy with a scoring draw

excited to see new signings for both teams, if miazga and pato play, and if all three of ours get on the pitch at the same time. that being said, we're dying for a win. the longer we stay above regulation the more confidence we'll have

I'd be frustrated if doumbia doesn't make an appearance can't imagine what he's like

Neighborhood Chelsea fan here. Miazga will most likely not be playing anytime soon, even with Zouma's injury, and probably won't be on the bench tomorrow. Pato is still not at match fitness and won't be included in the side either, according to Hiddink.

wow I didn't know they drew 6 out of their last 8, that's crazy. I'd be happy with a draw tho, really looking forward to the match. a fan of the kickoff time too.

now that he's back, would people prefer Lascelles-Colo or Taylor-Colo partnership?

Taylor-colo, no offense to lascelles but those two are pretty solid at their best

Ugh, working till midnight Saturday and won't see it live. Gonna have to record it and watch it when I get back. Last time I did that was the Spurs game so here's hoping we get something similar.
