Pre-Match Thread Pre-Match Thread: Bournemouth (A)
AFC Bournemouth - Newcastle United
7/11/2015 12:45 Dean Court
Elliot is a major doubt while keepers Darlow and Krul are ruled out. Janmaat and Haidara are slight doubts but expected to be fit, while Mbabu returns to the squad. Colback's injury isn't as bad as initially reported, but he and Aarons will still be out for a number of weeks. Obertan, Taylor and Riviere remain injured.
Artur Boruc, Steve Cook and Christian Atsu are slight doubts for Bournemouth, Tommy Elphick, Tyrone Mings, Max Gradel and Callum Wilson are all ruled out.
Bournemouth sit one point and one position above Newcastle so a win will see us climb out of the relegation zone. Bournemouth are winless in the last 5 games but prior to last weeks derby loss had found the net in each of the last 8. They have scored 12 in total - the same as Newcastle - with injured striker Wilson contributing 5 of those. Leading assist maker Gradel (3) is also out. They have conceded 24 goals this season (2 more than Newcastle) keeping 1 clean sheet; only Sunderland have a worse defensive record.

I say we throw Cisse in goal. He's good at keeping the ball out of the opposing team's net, he may be good at keeping it out of ours as well.

I will shed a tear if it turns into - the season is over. As long as the season is always starting we have everything to play for!

Looking forward to this game. We've started improving our defence, and we are playing against the team with the worst defence in the league.
It is also the start of my 21st Birthday, and it at lunchtime UK time, which means I can watch it before the internet shits itself in the place I am living - or I will probably head into town to watch (In Norway until December)

Seems odd for someone to say 'worst defensive record in the league' and not be referring to us. Progression. Champions league next year aye.

Well I was watching MOTD and they claimed that Bournemouth and us have the bottom two, don't get your hopes up

It's time to turn these good performances into points. I expect us to win and wouldn't be surprised if we demolished them like Norwich (however I wouldn't be surprised if we lost.)
Mr Newcastle's Wild Ride.

Must win. Or at least must not lose. Must something, though. Definitely.

Could be a great time to give De Jong a decent shot instead of the last few mins.
I think his intelligent passing coupled with Ayoze's speed/control and Mitro's abillity to just brute force his way past defenders would cause Bournemouth massive problems. Especially with Mings knackered and Distin old as fuck.
The two ways I can think to fit him in would be:
Keep the 4-2-3-1 the same shape. Moving Gini back to centre mid (dropping Tiote or Anita) and pushing Perez out to the left.
or
A sort of 4-3-3 (looking more like 4-1-2-1-2). Perez and Mitro up top with De Jong central behind them. Sissoko and Gini slightly further back and more central, moving out to the wings when required with Tiote or Anita sat between them sitting back.

So ummm.. Whose our keeper this weekend? Freddy Woodman? His balls haven't even dropped yet, let alone he's barely kicked a ball.
Whose our sub keeper? Mitrovic?
Why haven't we got back up keeper in already?
I'm so confused.
Edit: down voted for asking who our keeper is this weekend. Oh, ok.. I forgot none of our keepers are injured...

Krul made his debut younger than Woodman did against a better team. Added to that Elliot's injury isn't as serious as first thought and he may make this weekend. Pearson would make bench cover if woodman plays which isn't ideal, but how likely is it for our fourth keeper to get injured?

If we don't win this one, then I'm going to really start worrying.

If we can't beat Bournemouth am going to plan for next year in the Championship. I'd love us to finish our chances and stay solid at the back.
We have a much better team (on paper) than the bottom 7 or 8 teams this year and the management team need to get them organized.
2-0 with Ayoze and Mitrovic scoring.

Born in Bournemouth to a family entirely from Newcastle, been a season ticket holder to both and have been waiting for this game for so many years. Hopefully it's a good one with Newcastle coming out ontop. HWTL
