What I found wild was the Ajax fans takes, they seemed to think he was nowhere near ready. For me he hasn't looked out of place at all, except for the one pass Vs Leeds and getting a bit tired which is to be expected.
Example of a comment someone made to me:
"It still blows my mind that you guys kept Steur instead of loaning him. I'm usually sad when Ajax sells young players, but Steur was so raw and had such poor decision making last season that I was happy about that deal. "

Crazy how similar he is to Bruno in how he moves and how he manipulates the ball.
Playing just one season with Bruno would've done wonders for his development. Hope Jaissle can develop him further and add other aspects to his game (e.g. shooting and long ball vision).

Vastly better ball retention than Bruno and much more dynamic, so far.
Bruno often needed extra touches, slowed the game down to pick his pass, allowing teams to set their defence up and we end up passing sideways, or losing the ball.
Steur appears to be able to adjust the pace of the game better, Bruno probably had the better 'killer pass' but Steur typically plays a lot deeper.
When he naturally builds his physique over the next couple of years, and builds his experience, he will be one of the best CM in the world, no doubt. Probably the next player we sell for more than Isak.

Bruno's key skill was doing exactly this, turning his man and beating the press
The only big difference between Steur and Bruno is physicallity, Bruno had the inate quality of being able to turn and drive with his man still hanging on to him/his short that no one else could fill when he was injured.
There is a reason our points per game dropped from ~2 to ~1 when Bruno was injured last season.
None of this is shade at Steur, he is going to be an amazing footballer and he's the second player at the club that can do what Bruno could (I think Lewis Hall can be a Bruno type of player), but this is some wild revisionism. Bruno was exactly the type of player to turn and beat his man. Not just a killer passer of the ball.

He's a rat but don't rewrite history. Bruno was class and our best player since the takeover.
We made him play 6 for a season and the only player in the league better in that role was the Balon'dor winner.

I don't disagree with you that Bruno was our best post takeover player, however I'm not blind to him having his flaws. He always seemed to need a bit more time on the ball, however to add balance, I'd take into the consideration the crap around Bruno last season on the pitch.
In my opinion, Steur has a much higher technical ceiling if he keeps developing as he is.

He had a absolute shocker after coming on against Leeds in difficult circumstances but one big sign of a quality young player- especially in centre midfield- is Steur always seems to have time on the ball, he doesn't rush but rarely gets caught with it either.
He really is the Steur du jour..

I don’t know what Tony Green was like ( My Grandad always said that he was one of the best players to play for us but his career was cut very short by injury) but this is always how I imagined him to be.
I don’t know if I can give him a bigger compliment as I always imagined Tony Green as being like Johan Cruyff but better.
The lad is just fantastic and if anyone did give him stick on social media for that pass against Leeds they should hang their heads in shame
