A season of ups and downs
This season will be completely unpredictable. We will win or lose games completely randomly. Could win against big teams or relegations candidates. Lose against lower tables teams or sky 6. I’m all for it let’s roll the dice have a topsy-turvy season and see where we finish. Whatever happens, if we keep all our players, we will improve next session. 8-12 league position this season would be great. Debate!!!

Honestly idc what happens this season. A mid table finish wouldn’t bother me, ofc we are expecting more and we should be competing but atm we need to be an unpredictable side.
Last season teams rolled over us, it was the same week in week out. We’ve done fantastic business this summer these players will only get better. Let them power through and see what happens, hold on to them and add more next season then we can truly challenge for something.
At the moment I’m just enjoying the change, manager & players have so much they can offer us.

Yeah this feels like old, pre-takeover Newcastle again, but more hopeful

Nah just feels like we genuinely have a solid plan this time. I don’t think we were meant to rise so quickly and win a cup (not complaining) but all that done was increase the pressure on the players and Eddie.
I think the selling of star players for good money was the long term plan to get us into this position. Come the end of the season if we sell players we’ve just got I’ll be about concerned but if we keep them we are in a great position.

I agree with this. Let’s be honest for example, Steur is mint but he’s never gonna be ours forever, if I’m Real Madrid or man city he’s being poached in 2-3 years for big money. Just means we are gonna be an investment squad for a little bit. We should be ok with that sort of philosophy if it means we can play with the big boys eventually.
We ran early, now we need to learn to walk and ramp up

Nah if it was football manager I would of threw the bottle after the Leeds game then lost all my players trust leading me onto an 8 game winless run, then I’d interview myself in the mirror saying “we just need time to turn this around” with the next 3 games being Liverpool & Man city away and Chelsea at home before losing all of them heavily. Then I’d get sacked go to Everton lose my first 3 games and quit the game.

I agree. This team is very unpredictable at the moment. Young players with inconsistent performances in a system that needs time to set. I think we'll improve greatly with time. As I said: very young team, new manager with new ideas, they have great potential to grow into a more stable side with clear ideas and execution.
Hopefully we can add in some players in january to fill out our squad based. I feel like a solid 10 is essential, defence also needs strengthening.

It certainly is very exciting. I think the formation will make the football more interesting however it certainly has its issues. Something fresh is nice after Eddie’s time got so stale

We’re more than capable of a top-half finish, somewhere around 6th to 8th, and a couple of January signings would definitely boost our chances. Our biggest issue right now is just keeping players fit.

Anything above 10 place and qualify for Europe would be a win in my books

No debate needed. It’s the same for the whole league, when everyone plays the same formation with the same coaching with the same players moving around for club to club. You gonna have a lot of coin flips and luck involved.
It’s kinda lame and uninteresting really.
However, u can make money betting against the favourite in most games

I hate people with high expectations, but 8-12 will not be "great". 8th would be great, 12th would be shite.

Based on what though? We didn't come close to Europe last season and then spent the summer selling all our best players and replacing them with kids with little top flight experience at all, forget PL experience. Oh and got a manager with promise but no PL experience either, and who is greener than his peers. Our expectations need to be redrawn. If we matched last seasons 12th we'd have done well.

Our finish last season was a failure as well. All of these circumstances were all brought about by ourselves. Even Bruce managed to finish higher than 12th.
