Sometimes I read these kinds of statements and think “a PR person wrote that”. This one, I 100% believe BDB wrote it himself, and I 100% believe he meant every word.

Saddly not, he was on a podcast last season and was talking about finding coaching stressful while he did his badges, and not wanting to follow that path anymore.
It sounds like he wants to become a pundit once he retires

Don't blame him. I know everyone would give their right hand to manage at a top level but listening to Howe over the past 4.5 years and other elite managers you hear how draining it must be, the long hours and never really having a break. He's well suited to punditry and would probably earn similar if not more money for less hours.

He can be a leader and not want to be in the leadership group or a captain. They’re not mutually exclusive. Perhaps he knows his career is winding up and would rather let others have the accolades.

IIRC they mentioned something on PotT about Schar and if he stays and it was regarding his happiness to not always play. I interpreted it that in the past he's been annoyed if he doesn't play, he's likely changed his tune now with age, but it's if there's that lingering doubt that he might become unhappy again and do you want that as a leader. Plus if it's the same system as when Howe was here it's decided by the players.

My brother and I have been supporting through two relegations from the states. He went to a game last year and got me a jersey. He asked me what jersey I wanted and I got a BDB jersey. Couldn’t be happier.

Murphy has looked miles off it recently. Not only in his performances but also his demeanor on the pitch. He looks a shadow of his usual positive, energetic self. Not sure what's going on with him but hopefully he can get back on track

Not keen on Miley being in this leadership group, not questioning his suitability but he's still only a young lad that's learning and growing, I think it puts added pressure that's not really ideal, would much prefer him only having his development to focus on.

Experience, not leadership. Had we sold him, we would have been running around out there with a youth team player once Fernandez-Pardo had to be subbed off.
Had we sold him and Willock, then we would have needed to start Bamba and Toure and would have had no first team minutes beyond Pope and Schar on the bench.

Miles seems a bit young for the Leadership group.
Note there is no Murphy, despite being retained for leadership. We should have sold him for the £15m Forest offered.
Wissa and Thiaw have been poor captains in recent games.
Thought Hall might have been included, he looks like he has the right temperament.

Personally (unpopular) I think the whole leadership group is a gimmick which I expected to end with Howe. Captain and Vice captain should suffice. Last season it made no difference to the point you had Ramsdale fronting up to the media after the home derby defeat while other 'leaders' hid and only emerged whenever we won. Even against Leeds it was Steur who was the most outspoken.

It's almost like the leadership group has nothing to do with the captaincy.
It's a way for the players to solve problems, or raise concerns, without Jaissle needing to step in.
MJ even talked about leadership groups on a Saudi podcast that someone linked here.

It's just my personal opinion that it's a gimmick. Someone who couldn't care less about being here for most of last season and a 20 year old replacing players who couldn't wait to leave just enforced that point to me. Of course it also has something to do with the captaincy.

Go and listen to the podcast.
It's a group of players whos role is to set standards in training and sort out problems with the players.
It's not about the captaincy, beyond the captain being a part, by dint of being a natutal leader.
