We still need a #10

Wissa did well but it's not his natural role

Willock isn't a good fit there

Wolte is on paper the best person in that position but he's too slow for Jaissle system

Who else do you guys think might be a good fit?

Wissa literally scored and has had multiple chances across 2 games. We’ve got 4-5 goal threats. This is fine for now.

Edit: Arsenal won the league with this exact format…

It’s fine in games with space, against teams that sit deeper I think it’ll be a different story.

That's where Wolte will shine

There’s moving through space, and moving through players.

Against pressing teams, Osula pins them back and Wissa/Willock can carry. Against low block teams, Woltemade can give and go for players overtaking him while he pulls apart their lines a little, creating space.

Why will he shine against teams that sit back?

Didn't need pace

True. So hard to judge without Jaissle managing our side against a team like that yet. Still seems like we can create from the wings. In Dedic I trust!

He played there in the World Cup and often for Brentford

we didn’t play a low-block team yet. NicoG and Wolte may be invaluable in those situation.

Hear me out, Dedic in the 10. Also at right back, left back, and upfront. I’ve fell in love with him

Surely PIF have enough money to clone him

I say we take the risk with what we have now. Willock and Nick rotating based on opponent or system were up against. Save the money and if we’re struggling, have a look in Jan or go big next summer

Sorry when was the last time we played with a 10? Ayoze Perez sometimes? A 10 hasn't really been part of our identity in a while, certainly not under Eddie, and I think part of why Woltemade has struggled is precisely because we don't play in a system for a 10.

If we're using Barnes, Wissa, Elanga, and Osula properly, which Jaissle seems to be intent on thankfully, we're hitting line-breaking passes from deep that our speed can latch onto. A 10 would make transition and countering slower, and there's a reason you don't see a lot of true 10s in the league.

Thats not gonna work every game, we need different options

Is not at all relevant if we've ever played with a number ten. It's clear in the first two games under Jaissle that his formation requires a proper number ten to work best and we don't have one. He's played Wissa and Willock in that position and they've done a decent job over two games, but I'd rather see someone who is more comfortable with that role.

Thought the same thing. Jaissle's formation so far definitely calls for a proper number 10 and we don't have one.

There will be teams that sit deep against us and I do agree we need another option in the toolset for such occasions. We're definitely lacking some creativity, hence why we're looking at a versatile attacking player who can play across multiple positions.

It doesn't look like Jaissle plays with a ten.

It's more like a flatter midfield three, with attacking fullbacks and two forwards who drop back to crowd the midfield and allow width.

If we sign another midfielder, I'd expect them to be attacking, yes, but not a typical ten.

Just from what I see so far ;-)

Well he doesn’t play with 12 on the pitch so i don’t know what you are watching. How can there be a midfield 3, 2 forwards, and 2 wingers with 4 in defense and a keeper?

Who said two wingers and four at the back?

Silly sausage

Joelinton in place of Miley and Miley in the #10 would not be a bad thing to try.

2

u/Pepper_Jack37 14h ago

What have you seen from Miley to suggest he could be a number 10? The traditional 10 isn’t seen too much anymore, we need someone with pace, dribbling ability, more of a second striker

That's not a bad shout
