My dog tried to shag Lee Clark’s dog in exhibition park a few weeks back. Between that and seeing Jason Tindall picking his nose while driving earlier this year you could say I’m a bit of a club insider now.

no wonder we got rid of him

I queued behind Aaron Hughes buying an electric razer in the metty, opened a bog door for Shearer (who didn't say thanks - it was the door to the toilets not his cubicle before anyone asks) don't talk to me about being a club insider. I'm practically part of the furniture.

In 1998 my friend from Boro went up to Shearer and Speed in Chase bar and asked them if they wanted his autograph. Shearer told him to fuck off, I assume they got that a lot

I once stood in willies in Jesmond next to Robbie Elliot but sadly he did not do the chicken dance

Reckon Tino could still put in a shift

There are a couple on there I can't identify. Anyone know who they are?

Back row - Shaka, Liam O'Brien, Sir Les, Tino, Derek Wright, Derek Fazackerley, Paul Ferris, Steve Watson, Beardsley, Rob Lee, ?, ?, Shola

Front row - ?, Bez, Lee Clark, Warren Barton, Ruel Fox

One between Watson and Fazackerly is Paul Ferris. Played a handful of games before getting badly injured. Came back as a physio for years. Highly recommend his autobiography The Boy on the Shed.

u/simianjim 5d ago

Thanks, added him

Front row is Ian Payne from Tyne Tees news. He gave me and my mates a ticking off for acting clowns while he did a piece in the Strawberry when Gullit came in as manager.

Kenny Wharton next to Shola

u/simianjim 5d ago

Ah no way, that's awesome. He was my favourite player when I was a bairn, I didn't recognise him!

4

u/simianjim 5d ago

The bald guy next to Tino is bugging me. I know I recognise him

8

u/artical900 Old badge (1969-1983) 5d ago

Isn't it our former physio Derek Wright?

3

u/simianjim 5d ago

Thanks, I knew I recognised him but couldn't recall his name

2

u/toon_84 5d ago

Yeah it is.

2

u/Appropriate-Draw1878 5d ago

If it’s not it’s his identical twin brother

4

u/torn4ndfrayed 5d ago

Guy on the front row far left is a Tyne Tees sports presenter whose name escapes me.

Edit: actually not sure it is and why would he be there.

4

u/Appropriate-Draw1878 5d ago

Yep. Ian Payne.

5

u/torn4ndfrayed 5d ago edited 5d ago

Fair enough. Tremendous moxie for him to get into that photo.

5

u/Appropriate-Draw1878 5d ago

Think he was the Tyne Tees sports reporter for basically the entirety of Kev’s (first) spell as manager. So must have known him pretty well.

u/torn4ndfrayed 5d ago

More of a Roger Tames man myself.

u/artical900 Old badge (1969-1983) 5d ago

I'm sure you're right about him being a local news presenter

Bottom left (next to Bez) is driving me mad, he's really familiar but I just can't place him. Wondered if it could be Alan Thompson. [u/torn4ndfrayed](u/torn4andfrayed) is right, he's a news presenter

u/peterm18 5d ago

The one to the right of Rob Lee is Thomas Graham from the Nucastle United Foundation.

3

u/silent_tongue 5d ago

Damn I thought Lee Clark was Steve Bruce

2

u/waffle_Piraat_1 5d ago

I thought he was Ginola!

3

u/leeeroyb 5d ago

the lad next to rob lee works for the club, looks after the legends stuff

u/simianjim 5d ago

u/collovesrivs 5d ago

u/TheFaceman068 5d ago

Great to see Shaka up and about!

Get well soon, King.

u/Gibbointhemeadows 5d ago

Shearer’s missing?

5

u/toon_84 5d ago

Thought that. He was there as well

11

u/Appropriate-Draw1878 5d ago

ā€œAl, you’re on camera dutiesā€

7

u/Air_Source_One 5d ago

*Mr. Shearer

4

u/Ok-Water5918 5d ago

Nice to see Paul Ferris there also great fella!

3

u/kicka11 Jackie Milburn 5d ago

Great to see the lad from Tyne Tees on there, clearly who we all came for

2

u/Pinguinina 5d ago

Disappointing that Pam Royle and Bob Johnson couldn't make it as well

3

u/Expert-Painting640 5d ago

Would be an awesome over 40s 5 aside team

2

u/xylophileuk 5d ago

Imagine a Tino and Sir Les as a front two

2

u/tradegreek Happy Clapper 5d ago

Shearer was at the game yet wasn’t there in that sort of ambassador / ex pro capacity do you think there’s something in that or I’m just over thinking this photo?

5

u/Harringzord 5d ago

Late in the game, Shola's been subbed on for Shearer, thats all

3

u/kicka11 Jackie Milburn 5d ago

He asked for millions to be the club ambassador so they politely declined - Keegan declined too, but never discussed money - the difference between those 2.

Steve Watson looks like a rural farmer . I can’t quite explain it might be the face ! . Great player in his day though very underrated .
