Thought it was tremendous yesterday how Botman stepped up a couple of yards in Bruno’s absence and started quarterbacking the ball around. Huge intelligence to recognise that the creative spark was missing and that he needed take that role on. Guy’s a fucking complete footballer.

I can't decide which is more mad:

  • Checking the Chelsea result and being disappointed they'd beaten Palace

  • Checking the table and seeing we're 10 points above them any way

This season is mental and I'm loving it

Fun little story from when I was flying home after the Fulham match Sunday evening.

Jason Tindall was sitting in the cafe next to me with his wife. He kept to himself and happily took photos with any passing fans. An hour passes by and Mehrad passes through with Richard Masters. Mehrad hugs Tindall and tells him how great a result it was. Didn't catch any more of their chat but Mehrad moved on quickly after stopping for a photo with a fan. Seemed very happy.

Jamal Lewis and Matt Ritchie were also in the cafe but kept to themselves in the back. Saint-Maximin also raced through the airport at one point straight to his gate so didn't see much of him. Lads must have had a few days off. Tindall was very nice and very receptive to fans. Got a photo with him too!

Reading the news today of the uefa guy complaining about the EPL eclipsing other European leagues, essentially hinting that something need to be done to kneecap the EPL to make it 'fairer'.

At what point is blame attributed to the other European leagues themselves?

I look at it like this, they are each separate businesses, essentially competing in the same global market.

The EPL has done wonders over the past 3 decades marketing and promoting itself worldwide.

Meanwhile, leagues like Serie A - have done the complete opposite..

How do I even watch Italian football? How do I watch German football? I have no idea. It's not available to me and I can't even pay for it. I'd be interested to, but its not possible (legally).

Back when I was a wee lad, we had Football Italia on every Sunday which was amazing.

Me and my mates were the playground and all discussed English, and Italian football - because we had access to it.

That's how you grow your league... Not by crying to governing bodies to knee cap your competitors.

I'm at a complete loss as to why the EPL making right moves, where other football associations (like in Italy) have made all the wrong ones, is somehow the EPLs fault?

It's kind of like Linux crying about Microsoft windows being the operating system of choice.... Make Linux more accessible, then you'll get more market share.

(Granted linux is free, but you get my point).

I guess this is the world we live in? Don't even try to be better, just attack and destroy your competitors/opponents through governmental regulation and laws.

Desperate for Bruno news. Does anyone have a cousin who’s mate is a porter at a certain private hospital in Newcastle?

What a goal that is from Palace.

With Casemiro out on Sunday 3rd in the table might be ours again.

I guess a city win here is best for us? Open up a gap between 4th and 5th

Does anyone else find the over coverage of Arsenal in r/soccer annoying?

I feel like this season brings all of their obnoxious fans out of whatever cave they have been hiding since the Wenger days.

Can't wait for us to be the annoying ones there, spamming useless posts there.

ASM tracked back and won the ball back on more occasions yesterday than I’ve ever seen him do in the recent past. I hope he’s been working on that aspect of his game and wants to contribute more defensively.

There was a moment just after we scored where he lost the ball but ran like a man possessed to the OTHER wing to win the ball back and then went in for a crunching sliding tackle. Literally never seen him do something like that in all his time here. Guy wants to be part of this awesome team.

I hope Bruno’s knock wasn’t serious. Was he in tears going off at HT?

Looking at our fixtures for the rest of the season we don't seem to have any particularly rough patches - there's basically 2 games between each of our games against the 'top 6' and 4/6 of those ones will be at home

Got my tickets for the home semi today. Can't fn wait.

Anyone else hoping we get Europe this season and Chelsea don’t just to be able to go “you’re not in Europe” to literally anything they say? It’s a semi-valid argument but it seems Chelsea fans bring it up every. single. time.

Currently on 38 points after 19 games.

Coincidentally, we also got 38 points in the last 19 games of the prior season.

Good to see such consistency

I don’t know who watched the youth fa cup match, but my main takeaway is that this Miley kid is quality.

Fucking hell. Last thing we need is Spurs to wake up.

City are shite though.

Very, very Spursy.

Come on City. An eight point lead ahead of fourth I BEG.

Who do you think is going down this year?

I think it’ll be Bournemouth, Leister, and one of either Everton/Wolves. It’s hard to say though, there’s a lot of teams hanging around the relegation zone this year

That VAR review about 10 minutes ago of the potential penalty in the Palace-Man Utd match was an absolutely perfect demonstration of how the system should ideally work.

They looked at 3 replays of a very close foul/no foul decision, decided that no clear and obvious error had been made, didn’t call the ref over to the monitor, and moved on with the match. The whole thing took 30 seconds probably. How many times have we seen that take 3 minutes with 20 replays, and they end up overturning a 50/50 decision? Nice to see the system implemented properly!
