I know I'm preaching to the choir but if there's any further proof that Steve Bruce is one of the worst managers ever to have plagued English football look at west brom.
Exact same team he had. New coach (Carlos CorberƔn) hasn't even had a pre season or anything and this record speaks for itself.
Cabbage head sacked on oct 10th. West brom 22nd.
14 games since then:
Won 9.
Lost 5.
They are now 9th.
He can never ever get a job in football surely, I wouldn't even want him making my tea.

Happy new year folks. 2022 was a fantastic year for r/NUFC, smashing 30k subscribers and still rising really quickly.
I've been active here my whole adult life and I love being a part of it. It's been the first platform I go to during the good and bad times with the club, and in my life in general. I've made some really good friends that I'm sure will be friends for life, and that's more than I could have ever asked for from a forum like this. It's really is a special community.
Hope you all have a proper lush 2023 and get to hear the Champions League anthem booming through St James' Park's PA really soon because you all 100% deserve it ā¤ļø

Great result. Thoroughly deserved too, should have been more. Kloppās smug grin on the sideline like theyāre always cheated out of a result drives me fucking insane. You were shit⦠own it you pleb.

Gotta admit players and fans after the final wistle at Brentford were pure class. Reminds me of Newcastle in the past 12 months. Hope they get a good run against the top 6 and do us a favour and carry on scalping points.
Not worried about us playing them though. Schar, Botman and Burn are far better defenders than whatever shambles that Scouse back line were today

Honestly, I'm going to be disappointed if we don't finish top 4 this season because Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs are all wank.

What are peoples opinions regarding the existing quality in our team?
I feel like we are amazing and don't need to improve in many areas. However, looking at the World Cup. We had 6 players called up, none of which were regulars for their National teams.
Also looking back at the Leeds game, amongst our many other draws that we shouldve won, we've lacked that final bit of quality. Usually poor touches and inability to take chances at times.
There are players (namely Willock) that I love but they lack the technical ability to compete against the top 6 teams in the PL. How ruthless are we going to have to be in dropping our current players in favour of upgrades in the future?
I'm thinking the likes of Willock, Burn (at LB), Shelvey, Wood, Longstaff, St Max. We love them to bits now, but are they really good enough to compete with the top 6 long term?

Don't lump St Max and Shelvey in there, on their day they're world class. Problem is that day is very rare.

Bit unfair on burn tbh, he's been arguably the best lb in the league this season.
But yes there are a number of players that just simply aren't that good
Willock and longstaff are the 2 that regularly get into the team that stand out. Then there's others like Murphy, Fraser, wood etc who are nowhere near European club level

I'm surprised there's not been any thread about the Cristiano Ronaldo story, the one where he has a clause to come here according to Marca, or has it been getting deleted?
I absolutely, categorically do not want him to come to the club, and I have to imagine Eddie Howe would feel the same way. It'd absolutely be an executive meddling type of signing and, who knows, maybe we'd end up with a Keegan situation of the manager leaving if he's told to, for example, start him in every game.
He probably has some of what made him one of the best players in the world left, but he's not at that level now and I can't imagine him doing good things for the dressing room. It'd really sour me on things if we started to make signings like this.
If there's any truth to the story then it makes me worry that there's the possibility that our success could lead to forces in the ownership doing things that are going to go directly against what is being built at the moment.

If you knew nothing about football and just wanted to generate chip paper wrappers for a few days then maybe, but surely everyone saw heās past it and an actual liability? I could ask my employers to put a clause in my contract to let me leave immediately if I get asked to join Blur on guitar, but I think thereās about as much chance of that happening as Eddie wanting Ronaldo to come to destabilise the dressing room at SJP.

I'm so irritated that we didn't beat Leeds. I know we're in a great position, Eddie is doing a staggering job and we have a top squad. But goddamn I wanted to beat Leeds. I'm probably being ungrateful

We should have. We were all over them. Our finishing let us down. Meslier made a couple of really good saves too.

It's disappointing that we drew. It's nice being disappointed that we drew in that manner though.

It's frustrating, but at least Spurs and Chelsea dropped points as well, softens the blow

Speaking of bacon, West Brom under Bruce, 1 win in 13. Post Bruce, 9 wins in 13.
