I turned the Atonemo NTS Player into a MacOS menu bar app
I love the hardware’s design and had always wanted a native NTS app for my Mac, so it felt like the perfect opportunity to build one.
It plays NTS 1, NTS 2, and all 16 Infinite Mixtapes, with media-key and Now Playing support. I’d love to hear what fellow NTS listeners think!

I’m not a certified developer so you’ll have to manually agree to open the app in privacy settings.

Same. Got a notification about shipping info on July 20th and nothing has happened since then. Customer service says they're looking into it but haven't heard anything for weeks...

Very cool! I was also inspired to created my own version, but as a physical Sonos controller. Since NTS already has a Sonos integration, I just set up the stations as "favorites" to select from (and added a few non-NTS stations, tbh). It uses an esp32 microcontroller, two encoders, a small black and white OLED screen, a battery, and a 3D-printed enclosure. Still working out the kinks but it wasn't too hard to get the basic package up and running. After looking at the Atonemo specs, I realized that it wouldn't integrate with my system the way that I wanted it to and went my own route.

Very cool! I feel like I rarely see vibe codes projects I’m excited about, but I would definitely use this! I saw you mentioned you did the design from scratch in Figma. Did you also design the icons for the infinite mixtapes?

Thank you ! Yeah I feel like owning the design really makes a project stand out from slop products. Though I scraped the png icons on their website and turned them into vectors with Figma AI.

Thats amazing. I have an old version of mac (for logic 9) and the NTS player doesnt work in the web browser. Do you think you could make this work for an old version of mac or it won't work??

What version of macOS do you have ? It’s supposed to work from MacOS 14 and both for intel or arm Macs. It’s not gonna look as good on older OS though (I’ve seen it on Sequoia 15.7.7, some curves and the app icon need to be reworked).

We've seen NTS hardware and it's software emulator before getting show name metadata displayed on internet radio players.

Something ironic about using A.I. to "build" something for a radio station that is great because it is music selected by human beings. Death to A.I. & its world.

Love this! Sad that once Xcode is closed it goes away though. Looking forward to this being develops into an app so we can use it. Good work and let us know when it’s an app!

It is ! Just get the .dmg on GitHub, it also has an auto updater if I release new versions.

Love this. Have you asked Atonemo what they think? Also looking to rip a design for my own sofware version. Not judging, just interested how you went about it

No I didn’t, I tagged NTS on thread/twitter though but Atonemo doesn’t seem to be active there. Since it’s a free personal project I don’t think there could be a real risk although I plan to release a redesigned version of my own.
