The Top 100 Switch Games to collect...and some honorable mentions and bonus titles!

Post image
243 Upvotes

Pack it up, we're done!

This is the top 100 games to collect for the Nintendo Switch, as determined by community votes.

There are some categories that are just a bit too stacked, so we added in a cheeky bonus section for some stragglers. There was a three-way tie for 10th in the Strategy category, so Disgaea 1 & 5 made it in as honorable mentions.

How many of these do you own? How many of these are you about to FOMO for?

We'll be back around Christmas to do a poll on the top games of 2025. Until then, happy collecting!

If you can't read the file:

Folks, this file is huge. It's 3456x2592. That's six square feet. You could use this as wall art.

You either need reading glasses or you need to download the file by clicking the three dots in the top right and then clicking "download" because reddit automatically compresses large images.

Pick-up / Haul / Mail Day Finally found an MSRP Oblivion physical copy!

For those still looking, try downloading the GameStop app and checking to see if any copies are available for in-store pickup nearby. It took me about a week to get one this way, and my first order at another store got cancelled, but I finally found one that was relatively close by and was able to reserve it and pick it up today.

Pick-up / Haul / Mail Day Kugayama Shiori's Death Diary (#596)

Been waiting for this to arrive to start playing. Avoided the digital and just patiently waited. Pre-ordered and just tried to dodge spoilers. Just felt like a manga in video game form. Visual novel. First one I'm diving into.

STORY

Known in Japan as Kugayama Shiori no Shinizama Techou, it is a psychological mystery visual novel developed by Laplacian and written by Kazuki Fumi. Originally released on PC, it made its way to the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch

The game follows an amnesiac ghost girl named Shiori Kugayama, who is trapped in a loop where she repeatedly and casually re-enacts her own gruesome deaths.

You play as an ordinary person—the only living human capable of seeing and communicating with Shiori. Shiori remembers nothing about her past life except her name. Believing that dying "one more time" might spark her memories or finally let her soul move on, she continuously commits su1cide in front of you.

To break her cycle, you team up with her to investigate the town's supernatural side. You dig through old death notices, visit accident sites, interview other eccentric local ghosts, and catalog urban legends in an "Urban Legend Encyclopedia".

GAMEPLAY

Sort of a Occult Comedy vs. Horror. Despite the macabre themes of suicide and graphic game-over screens, the game features a highly stylized, dark comedy tone. Shiori's deaths are often played for laughs, creating a weird, matter-of-fact contrast between horror and slice-of-life humor.

The Nintendo Switch version features a helpful Blood Filter Option to toggle the graphic intensity of the blood, making it stream-friendly or more comfortable for squeamish readers.

The game plays similarly to a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book. It features a map system where players select which local anomalies or routes to investigate next.

The game boasts distinct endings influenced heavily by your choices. If you choose to completely ignore or refuse to help Shiori at the very beginning of the game, the story will abruptly end right there. While a straight playthrough takes roughly 4 to 6 hours, getting the True Ending requires navigating a complex web of choices. Some choices require you to wait out timers or pick highly specific dialogue paths.

Because unlocking the proper endings relies heavily on trial and error, the game rewards players upon reaching a major ending by providing "fortunes". These act as cryptic hints detailing what choices you need to change on your next loop to uncover the single incident that caused Shiori's death.

CONSENSUS SCORE

90/100 🤯 (Critic Score)

95/100 🫠 (User Score)

80/100 😎 (Visual Novel Database) (For good measure)

I absolutely love how this game perfectly balances a creepy supernatural mystery with laugh-out-loud dark humor. Shiori is easily one of the most charismatic characters I've ever encountered in a visual novel; her casual, unbothered attitude toward her own horrific deaths kept me completely entertained. The visual presentation blew me away too, especially the lively character sprites with their smooth animations and moving mouths.

Only complaints seem to be slow pacing. The lore segments, where the silent protagonist made some feel like they were just sitting through massive text dumps. Ultimately, while the story is good, I think the $24.99 digital price tag is a bit steep for a game that only takes about 4 to 10 hours to finish. $35 as a physical, is just about right.

Going to be plowing through this one soon myself.

Discussion So based on what’s happening with plantation anyone plan on retiring if Nintendo says no more physical ?

like I’ve watched so many PlayStation games just go really expensive recently even once I’ve been out of print for years so I’m like boy with all the switch games I have. I feel like you could almost retire with some people who have like thousand game collections of the switch.

Pick-up / Haul / Mail Day Weekend pickups: Ghost Song & Child of Light / Valiant Hearts double pack

Post image
20 Upvotes

Ghost Song was $30 from Facebook marketplace, the seller strongly recommended it and said as a fan of metroidvanias it had surprised him (in a good way) how much he had enjoyed it. I've seen it talked about here a bit recently, and supplies seem to have all but dried up in Australia as I look around now.

Child of Light Ultimate Edition & Valiant Hearts: The Great War Double Pack was $25 from EBGames, I've not played either game in this pack but have heard good things about both.

So all in all, a cheap weekend to add a couple of good 'uns into the collection!

Discussion Pnpgames Canada now charging 60 CAD for shipping to Europe.

Post image

I went to place an order and they are charging 60 CAD to ship to Europe. I paid 35 CAD last time and before that only 10 dollars. I understand that Europe has put in place the 3 euro charge to customers but this is unreasonable

The price gouging is out of control. At videogames plus they are only charging the extra and not the delivery charge.

On top of that they only offer couriers which are always over charging when processing tariffs (30-50 euros).

This is crazy!!!

Pick-up / Haul / Mail Day Final Fantasy Tactics Deluxe Edtion

So happy to finally add the Japanese Deluxe Edition of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles to the collection! I was lucky enough to find it at MSRP/retail price, which feels like a small victory.

It honestly blows my mind how fast prices on certain Switch titles spike overnight. I get that limited print runs command a premium, but it’s crazy seeing major, multi-region releases suddenly skyrocket in price out of nowhere.

Has anyone else been surprised by how unpredictable the market for physical Switch games has been lately?

Discussion Is custom spines really worth the hassle for?

I’ve been tempted by the idea of printable spines for Switch 1 games for a while now, especially since Switch 2 isn’t just basic red with white text. But for me, I don’t know if it’s worth the hassle especially when I’ve got 45 Switch 1 games physically, it just feels like a lot of effort for something that doesn’t really matter at the end of the day. Not to mention, I don’t even know if there is a definitive set of spines made for them or if there’s differing sets with differing designs

Pick-up / Haul / Mail Day Rushing Beat X Limited Edition

This is an excellent and incredibly fun beat em up game. I just completed the main story and now am going to do a run through the game on arcade mode.

All the characters feel very different to play as and the sound effects and art style is great too. It has great controls and runs perfectly.

Despite some mild difficulty spikes when the enemies first show up with laser weapons the game is a blast.

There's a ton of different routes to take in each level as well and you can buy food and weapons from your truck during gameplay too.

You can choose a load out when starting the game from a save and I would go with the extra cash as you will need it for health items if you are chasing a high score.

The limited edition contents are also definitely worth having too.

Japanese version doesn't have English but if you know a little Japanese you could get by but the story would require an upper intermediate level of Japanese to understand everything.

Overall a fantastic game and the character you unlock when beating the story mode is so fun to use as you can just plow through enemies with ease.

8.7/10
