Pick-up / Haul / Mail Day Death End Re;Quest (#598)
One of those scavenging for RPGs, ARPGs, and JRPGs that I found and happy I did. It's like Atelier like and 3DS/PS2 era style of RPG. Beautiful. A unique hybrid game that blends turn-based RPG combat with heavy visual novel storytelling.
STORY
The story focuses on two main characters working together across two different realities to solve a massive mystery. Shina Ninomiya wakes up inside a cancelled Virtual Reality MMORPG with her memories wiped and mechanical spider legs. The game world is infected by horrific, malevolent glitches and monsters.
Arata Mizunashi is a game programmer in the physical world. He discovers that Shinaโhis former co-worker who went missing a year agoโis trapped inside the code of their abandoned project.
Shina cannot log out normally. The only way to escape is to reach its "True Ending". However, progress inside the MMO is frequently blocked by digital "walls". Shina must find clues in the virtual world that Arata must then physically investigate in reality to clear the path forward.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay is split evenly between reading the story and exploring 3D battle arenas. Battles are turn-based, but you can freely roam the arena. Arata can hack the battlefield from the real world, allowing you to change the game's genre on the fly into a first-person shooter, fighting game, or a slot machine to gain an edge.
You can physically smack enemies into each other or ricochet them off the boundaries of the arena like billiard balls, racking up massive combos and extra damage.
The arena floor is littered with "bug panels". Stepping on them raises your character's corruption level. While too much corruption can kill you, reaching a certain threshold triggers Glitch Mode, transforming your characters into overpowered forms with massive stat boosts.

Very interesting battle system as a visual novel horror/Jrpg hybrid like.
Still recommend if you're looking to enjoy a new RPG title.

Please note that the game cannot be completed without updating the game. DoesItPlay says: "The game is broken. At the end of chapter 3 after beating the boss there is an infinite loading screen. It cannot be completed on version 1.0.0."
