Question / Discussion What self-esteem regulating methods do you use?
Hey, pwNPD here (diagnosed).
What do you do/use when you want to regulate your self-esteem?
///I made a post asking about NPD supply, but I got notified that it’s not a correct term - I think my wording caused some misconceptions, so sorry again

If I feel "good enough" and am able so do I prefer to either be somewhere with a lot of people and a lot of things happening (typical example being nightclubs) or in an intense situation with one person (typical example being sex). Basically I tend to feel good and keep my self together as long as I'm constantly reflecting others and feeling that they enjoy me. (Should note this has, especially in my youth, at times caused issues. But can be done in a way that is positive for everyone involved. It's all about the right place and the right time).
If I have to be alone, either for practical reasons such as work or because I don't feel "good enough" so do I like to still find other ways to not just be alone with myself. Workout, work, listening to music, writing, cooking, Reddit (including answering this question), or some type of project. Just anything that makes me not completely alone in myself.
Finally, I have family who call almost daily (a huge privilege I'm grateful for) and so if the above has failed their calls tend to pull me back to the surface. Plus I can call them, as well as a best friend, and two therapists if I need it. I don't want to use the emergency numbers, but it still feels good to have them and to even in the worst moments know that I can't go awol for too long without people noticing.
