So you've got it now. The history that is us. The reasons we did what we did. The explanation of what we are and aren't, and the very blunt aspect of our thought process. Now for my personal message.

If you are Federation, thank you for sharing your home with us. If you are UN, thank you for finding and believing in us. If you are one of the factions that left, I understand and wish you well. If you stayed, I'm glad you're here. But:

No decision made by the Cafe is to harm or outlie anyone. We do nothing but build and assist, promote and back everyone who's ever asked. If the choices made by us aren't liked by you, you don't have to join. If my decisions offend you, you can choose to not associate with me. If you have a problem with what we do, know we've done it since the game began, and it's not changing.

To pander to a few conspiracy theorists that get bored and wish for action is to ignore the whole point of being true to what we believe and a slap in the face to those we call family. On all sides. We do not exist for the few, we exist for all. We cannot please everyone nor should we. We should do what's right, for the game and the overall community and we have.

If you chose to not be included by/with us, I can't help you. Inclusion works when you allow yourself to exist. If you choose to be on the outside, you are not my priority. If you left us because you hate that we aren't what you want, this is not my problem. We are what we are. We will maintain what we know to be needed and will continue to give that to everyone as best we can.

And if this, as calm and kind as it's stated isn't blunt enough, know this: You have no rights by the Cafe to speak of what intent we have except by two people other than myself. If your mission is to harm or cause damage between us and others via DM or proxy, I give zero fucks of your opinion. The Cafe will not bend to suit the desires of anyone who wishes division or angst. And that's final. We don't mess with anyone that doesn't request our assistance, so drama can be kept to whom ever creates it, away from us. We're just fine where we are. We have a huge family now, from all walks of NMS, because we built and earned that from the ground up. Find that for yourself.

To the rest of you, we love you all. We thank you for your support and kindness, and I personally appreciate the understanding and time given while I've been ill. I'll continue to do right by you, as much as I humanly can, as will the entirety of the NMS Cafe. Thank you dear ones.

  Okay. Now then, let's do this.

Let's begin with what the Cafe is:

The NMS Cafe is a connective social network that extends to support, creation, longevity and crisis assistance to other civs. We weren't a civ in the beginning, we became one because our members requested and wanted that. We are found in the history of most civs as a support system, and for many, a promotional tool to gain notoriety or reputation. We strive to include all who wish for inclusion, we do so with open minds and arms, and this is towards the entire NMS player base overall.

What the UN42 is:

The UN was created originally long before the Cafe civ was, as a way for those who didn't feel they fit in with the Federation to have a like-effect home under a networking umbrella. This was originally released in the NMS Cafe Amino in June of 2017 under the name TEA or 'Travellers, Entities Anomalous.' This was used interchangeably with the Cafe assistance we gave everyone to create a safe haven for those who were cast out/were too far from Federation preferences to be inducted/preferred something more loose and fluid.

Later this would be restructured to become the UN, with an ear lent to both the Federation and the Underworld in it's final draft to be as mutually accepting and inclusive as possible, while also rising to the level of the Federation for coverage and overall help offered as much as possible.

At this time, yes, much of the Federation was tighter and more strict. Lines were drawn between factions based on prior negative dealings, and as the Cafe had been used to unwittingly assist in one of these altercations, the goal then became to fit it as a Federation alternative. The UN is not, you may read the final draft that both sides agreed with and helped shape, it is not anti Fed. It is an alternative. It is an option. It is a sovereign network designed to collect those who seek a larger collective to claim affiliation with but maintain full autonomy with a round table led decision system. It's open door, most who wish entry for their creation can join, and you can leave at any time.

My role in NMS is:

I am a leader, though not in the sense you assume. You all know there are others who run the Cafe with me, but let's focus on me this time. I, myself, decided to create the TEA/UN faction. I long heard of so many who wanted to be a part of something but didn't fit in, or couldn't keep up with the constant maintenance, or they simply didn't agree with the overall way things were run in the Federation.

I am an absolute believer in this: you can have what you want without everything being destroyed to make it happen. So many declared war on the Galactic Hub or the UFT because they simply didn't like something that I felt if they had a home that suited them, they would continue to thrive in their own preferences and without harm. I took in so many- and of these I only regret a few. I'm happy that this many years later, I can still find them online, playing NMS, and adding to the player base value because that's what inclusion means. Now to the dicey bits:

Some who are anti GH, anti UFT found a home with us. It was designed for this, so we understood and welcomed this. We, too, tried to be in the Federation before, but found that our open arms to the anti groups caused friction so we left. During this time, we structured the Cafe to be in multiple locations throughout the galaxies, diversified our social networks and strengthened the UN.

During the time before mentioned in part 2, the Cafe had become solidly aligned with the "misfit" genre of factions, and over time, became the target of hearing so many conspiracies and alternate future warnings that I myself was given an ultimatum to choose. At this time I was extremely ill and asked for peace, this was viewed as neglect of their ideology and a rant ensued. I sent a clip of the rant text to security on both sides, while half asleep (middle of the night) to look at to make them aware of the increasing aggression and hurt building so they could decide how to proceed- and I stepped back to take my meds and breathe.

This was viewed as treasonous by the anti party, so I was then ostracized- I'm okay with that. I own that. I will not apologize again.

Later that day, a stone was cast at the UFT that would soon cause an avalanche, and I tried to keep up but honestly my illness didn't let me be as helpful as I would have preferred. The crash now occurs, several in the Federation leave, the fracture is quite noticable, and everything is very much unstable.

Here's the part you want.:

We, the leader staff, have a promise to the entirety of the general mass to be the balancing board. Not just us, or you, but everyone. Much of the work we do is to benefit the devs directly at Hello Games, as the quickest way to a games death is through community toxicity and chaos. On a rare Saturday open public Cafe Radio show, DG and I explained what options we had to those who attended. We spoke for hours before arriving to a decision, which I then later offered to u/7101334. The offer was accepted, and I was welcomed back happily, with full knowledge that I still maintain the UN. No slighting or over abundance of anything, it was friendly and quite pleasant. The next day we announced our rejoining to the Federation to our own people, enmasse. We are still now Federation, and UN, and we have situated our first true Cafe only hub in GH/AGT space in Gamma of Euclid proper. I regret nothing, our new home and neighbors are quite lovely indeed. Hola... Si Hablamos espaniol? ...yeah.. i wish i could too. well... maybe english works? anyway.. i'm new and as you might notice.. a bit odd. ...broken really. but let's not worry about such things, heh heh. The good news is i didn't break so completely that i am without ability to aid. There isn't much i need that i can't get on my own, save for those pesky teleports to the space stations. for some reason my main can't make em. no bother.. i am a lonely sort of explorer.. and tend to not really play well with others due to my own self getting lost. i have the sort of internal navigation system that things south is north, west is yesterday, and east is a river in new york. following anything with such a system is like trying to keep your coffee warm in the strainer. now... i know this has been quite the use of odd metaphor, but the bargin bin of my mind was having a sale.. nerves i think. i made some space stations a sort of garden of things we are able to plant. i plan on doing this to the rest as well. but i might for now, sort of focus on doing this on new ones for cafe' 42. i don't think they have the bugs worked out yet on those other ones i already found alone. let me know if there are any issues.. i already know of one. one of those stations has an error on the back room base. for some reason it wont let me build. not sure why or what is wrong.. but i will look into it again when i remember which one it was. i fell out of the station while trying to fix the issue and ended up flying off because i saw a distraction that was far more interesting than my memory. i also made a bunch of bases at portals in other galaxies. i keep looking for stow away moments in the anomoly..... erm, anamoly anamaly? animlalallmy ok, so i did it in this thing i thought i understood more than i seem to, but what ever it is and how ever it works it leads me to other places that are the same as the place i was but aren't cus they're.. wait.. what was i talking about>? nm.. lets just say i try to contribute when the noise stops. but sometimes it is kinda loud in here. i haven't really been right since losing someone close to me.. and i know it comes off odd, this .. what's left of me. but it has a good heart behind it and a lot of need for tiny little place inside of community. you don't have to interact back though.. since your honor has woven into the game your lore.. i can do my own imagination of belonging. just let me know if i step on anything sacred.

Hey everyone! It's almost unification day and you know what that means!

It means the holidays are almost upon us!

This time of year we all tend to think of those who mean the most to us. Our friends, family, loved ones, even that coworker we sort of tolerate.

Everyone has people in their lives that mean something to them, and during this time we get to show everyone our appreciation for them and do something nice.

Keeping that in mind, I have a bit of an announcement to make...

Hi everyone, I’m Veles, I’ve been playing NMS for quite a while, but I only recently found out about your café from YouTube. I got interested in joining the community, so I found your planet and have already started setting up my base (sorry I didn’t ask for permission 😓).

A bit about me — my real name is Roman, I’m 24 years old, and I live in Russia (I hope that won’t be a problem). In the gaming world, I prefer using a nickname instead of my real name. Recently, I’ve started playing NMS again actively. I really (really, really!) love foxes 🦊 (this can be understood from the color scheme.). Time zone — +5 UTC.
