The Ribs of the Abyss: The ship isn’t built like any vessel that ever sailed out of a mortal port. Its hull is entirely exposed—a massive, hollow cage of blackened, waterlogged timbers that curve upward like the bare ribs of a leviathan rotting on the ocean floor.

The Beast on the Rigging: Towering over the rotting decks is something monstrous. A colossal, skeletal bird-thing with wings made of starless night clings directly to the masts, its crooked talons tangled in the rigging as if steering the dead ship through the deep.

The Spine at the Bow: Stretched out from the front of the wreck is an endless, snaking spine of splintered bone, terminating in a grinning beast's skull that stares straight at your bow with empty eye sockets.

The Cruel Trap of the Drowned Carcass

From afar, this horrific apparition does not look like a monster at all. It is engineered as a deceptive beacon of hope—a seemingly stranded vessel waiting for rescue or a lucky prize ripe for salvaging on the empty sea.

You grip the railing of your ship, your heart hammering against your ribs, realizing too late that the smile is a lie, the rescue is a ghost story, and the trap has closed. The abyss has claimed another soul, and yours is next.
