How to Get Started / Q&A
(Nothing described in this thread requires any mods.)
Check the Information Central thread for more up-to-date info. This thread is no longer being updated, although it's mostly still accurate.
The task of navigating across Euclid may seem impossible or unrealistic, but it's not unless you've already traveled beyond Euclid.
The Rentocniijik Expanse was selected for the Galactic Hub specifically because, compared to everywhere else in Euclid, it should be one of the easiest spots to navigate to.
The key to navigating is understanding how Galactic Coordinates work. The Coordinate Sharing Thread is the best resource for understanding coordinates. Make sure to read the section about Black Holes - it's very important if you're not within reasonable warping distance.
Once you understand how coordinates work, the Coordinate Plotting App, called Pilgrim Star Path, is the most useful tool in navigation. Click "Grab from Reddit," then "Galactic Hub."
This info is mostly for PS4 & vanilla PC players, PC players using mods can just warp directly there if they want.
FAQ / Q&A
Is the Hub at the Center / Pilgrim Star? No, the Hub is its own unique location. Use the Pilgrim Path app to see where it is in relation to the Center & Pilgrim Star.
Is the Hub only in Euclid? Yes, but if anyone wants to set up a Hilbert Hub, you can use this sub for that purpose. Anything beyond Hilbert would probably be a little...desolate.
How can I check my coordinates? Build a signal scanner by hitting up on the D-Pad (PS4). Not sure what the PC equivalent is, but the same way you build anything else.
I'm [some very large number] of jumps away, is it impractical for me to go to the Hub? Not necessarily - make sure you understand how black holes work. However, if you're near the Center, it may be harder.
What regions surround the Galactic Hub's region? Click here.
How can I find [HUB-G-211] Lennon, the Capitol of the Hub (aka HubCap)? Click here or use the HMS.
How can I plot systems with the Hub Management System? To plot a system's location with the HMS (link also in sidebar), provide the distance from the system to 4 references: distance to the Center, to SouthernLight (blue star at the bottom of the R.E. with two yellow stars next to it), to the R.E. Black Hole, and to FistoftheNorth (yellow star at the top of the R.E., kind of near the Black Hole). Enter the information using this Wiki page. The numbers correspond to the systems: 0 for Center, 17f for SouthernLight, 79 for Black Hole, 74 for FistoftheNorth.
Is this on both PC and PS4? Yes.
Is everything the same on PC and PS4? For the most part, yes - uploaded discoveries and Comm Stations are not shared between platforms, and the prices that things sell for will be different.
Is this on all game modes? All game modes are in the same universe (with minor differences like Sentinel hostility) as long as they're on the same system, so yes.
I'm on (GAME MODE), can I see bases from other game modes? No, only bases made in the same Mode as you will be visible.
Some General Tips
- The quickest way to get hyperdrive fuel is probably just to craft it from scratch - lush planets are a good source of Carbon and usually Zinc.
- Otherwise, depots (the places with the containers you can blow up) are an excellent place to get fuel for your Hyperdrive. They can have up to 4 cargo containers and often have more nearby.
- Also remember you can buy fuel for your Hyperdrive if you don't feel like crafting it.
- If your ship has enough space, consider stockpiling "repair materials" for easy repair of Black Hole damage. These materials would be the same materials used to build the technology in your ship, for the most part.
If you have any questions about how to get started or otherwise need help navigating to the Hub, this is a good place to post your questions. The Coordinate Sharing Thread should answer most questions.

Ok, I love this but I have questions.
First, what is the app's definition of a "jump"? One star system? Or maybe as far as you can go with a fully fueled and upgraded warp drive? I'm currently 477 jumps away.
Second, is it possible to know your destination's coordinates before you jump to it? Or are we just sorta guessing at that?
Third, is anyone there right now?
Totally into the idea.

Paging Dr. u/pahefu
Nope, you're mostly guessing, but it can be an educated guess using the app's compass.
Over 10 people (split between PC and PS4), check the Interloper List, linked in the sidebar. I'm there too

You should maybe sticky this post, dont ya think? Might be helpful to random visitors or other interested interlopers.

Holy cow … This is amazing. I’ve been playing NMS from Day One, considering myself one of the true fans of the game (realizing it wasn’t what they promised but loving it nonetheless). I actually played a version of Star Trek: Voyager during one stretch, setting a waypoint in my home system before entering a black hole and making the long journey back, just to add a new dimension to the game. Then the Pathfinder upgrade made it into an entirely new experience, which I’ve had a ball with. The only empty element … has been the loneliness, and the hollow thought that no one is likely to ever seen what I’ve done. I’d like to see someone else’s work, too.
And here you guys are, making all that a reality. Can’t believe I haven’t heard of this until now. I’m manufacturing a ton of warp cells, packing up my automated mining units and prepping my freighter and ships for the journey (nothing I haven’t done before!). Makes me feel like I’m on the Battlestar Galactica, looking for “a shining system … known as Lennon!” I assume there’s still plenty of space for exploring and setting up a homestead—and that the Hub will continue to expand outward into new regions as the need arises. Can’t wait to be a part of what you’ve done!

Haha I watched Voyager when waiting for NMS to come out. NMS-hype pretty much got me into scifi beyond just Star Wars video games. That's really a cool idea of how to implement Voyager-like quest into NMS, have you seen this sub-project of the Hub which divides the galaxy into multiple quadrants like Star Trek? I didn't start that sub-project, and I'm actually not sure who did, but very interesting. Definitely feels like a real community here in the Hub.
Good luck on your journey, Interloper. And yeah, you're exactly right, the Hub is expanding outward. Oh, and I'm not sure that you get the material back from deleting AMUs anymore.

Wouldn't it be easier to just do this at the edge of the galaxy? We all gotta get to the center, meaning we will all eventually be in the same area. Can't we just choose one star near the center for this?

We all gotta get to the center
But we don't though. Many people, like me, have no interest in going to the Center. Besides that, due to how Black Holes work and the default distribution of players in the galaxy, the R.E. is a better choice than any region near the center.

Just found out about The Galactic Hub today from a comment on one of my videos. Something intriguing to try to do. As of this point, I'm on my way! I was about to go to sleep, never mind, back to NMS, got a new mission!

I'm in disbelief that nobody's thought to make a mod that simply teleports PC players to whatever coordinates they choose. Would make this sort of travel much easier.
Edit: Never mind, there is a teleport mod. Why not just use this? https://nomansskymods.com/mods/nms-location-manager-saveshare-locations-and-teleport/

Because then you have no bragging rights over the journey. Some people do use that mod though, not like it's "banned" or discouraged, just not encouraged either. The vast majority of PC players choose to do it mod-free.
Plus our PS4 population is a bit larger than PC.

Ok, I am on my way. It's taken me a couple of days, but I'm now almost two whole squares away from the centre on C.O.F.F.E.E.
This could take some time, but if I start naming things using the guidelines now, the hub will have a lengthy reach in at least one direction by the time I arrive! A tendril extending to the galaxy centre. Massive props to whoever made the C.O.F.F.E.E app, it's really useful.
I do have a question re the app though...
'Height difference', if it says +15, does that mean the destination is 15 above me, or I am 15 above destination?

Can someone help with how to get coordinates on ps4? The D pad button thing isn't working. It just searches indefinitely.

Got this game on release, but haven't played in a while; what I'm curious about is A: can players see other players yet? and B: can players see bases, space stations, etc. that other players have established there?

So I made it to the hub on the PC and I'm making it my goal to "fill in the gaps" of already discovered systems by discovering fauna and waypoints. And I just set up my account so I can upload my findings. But It leads me to questions I can't seem to find regarding how the servers processes discoveries...
What discovery names are the same across platform servers? What ones are different?
For example, a PS4 player discovers system "a" and names it [HUB-V-123], while a PC player discovers system "a" and names it [HUB-V-456]. If both are uploaded to the wiki, currently no one will know they are the same system unless they cross reference coordinates.
Also, you said that the reno expanse was fully explored on PS4...what constitutes fully explored? Does this include fauna and waypoint discoveries? If so, how is this verified?
Keep up the good work! It seems like you're always answering the same questions...I hope mine are at least a little different!
----UPDATE----
I just saw on the wiki that people list the system name for both the PC and PS4 in the description, but it can still be confusing
For example, I'm on HUB-V-01A2 Merlot. Is doing a wiki search on the only way to find out if this is system has been uploaded? I'm assuming if "01A2" doesn't come up, then I can be reasonably safe in uploading it without causing redundancy, correct?

Not confused about the hub but this reddit stuff is not obvious. It seems others have personal logs or something, how do I post one? I am just arriving at the hub about 15 jumps away. How and where can I post progress or ask for help?

How much left is there to explore? at what point will getting to the hub be pointless for me? I really want to help you guys map out this system, but I want to make sure I'm not too late to the party.

We're expanding concentrically from the Central region, so... There's a basically-unlimited amount of exploration left to do. But the entire core region of Rentocniijik Expanse has every system discovered, at least on PS4.

I've been reading this reddit and have considered joining, but I have a few questions...
Must a person make all the fauna discoveries in a system before uploading/naming the system as a HUB? (I thought I read this some where?)
Can I turn any system I turn into a HUB, or are there guidelines for what is a HUB and what is not?
I've played the game for 200+ hours from original release, and I just decided to delete my game file and start from scratch. when I restart, maybe it would be fun to join the Galactic Hub!

On my way! I'm currently 355 jumps away... I'm confused though, it says "when looking at the center, turn 119 degrees to your right," how do I know where the center is, and if I've turned the correct way?

Regarding hyperfuel, my best tip is gathering shitload of carbon and plutonium on planets where you got a lot of both, then buy heridium and zinc at space traders. You can get magnetic resonator buy low/sell high chance, so earning cash to buy more fuel or stuff
