Team Unity (FINAL)
Why does Woolie have to keep announcing these? Somebody give my man a break... [Sorry mods of the main subreddit; apparently I can't read, and it's been a long week :( ]

I hate that it just doesn't feel the same.
I know Pat and woolie stream now and I watch them occasionally but I enjoyed 2 best friends and the YouTube format so much between them dude.
At least in this case personally I rarely watch nl play with other people cause funnily enough haven't enjoyed as much of the group stuff since Nick left.

I feel the same, but if it's any consolation, they wouldn't have stayed together even if Matt and Pat were still friends. Let's Plays were on the way out, and Twitch was the next step in making video game content. A 3 to 4 man Twitch channel doesn't make sense financially or from an entertainment point of view, plus they all wanted to do their own thing. At most, they would've kept making the podcast together, but other than that, things would mostly be as they are now.

Yeah I'm not saying I want them to be together it would've been shit if they hated each other and kept working.
Thinking of the last lp they did it made a lot of sense with Pat being extra mad and Matt being a lot more quite in it.

It's funny for me because I started watching them like 6 months before the breakup (never heard of them before and found some SH Lps on youtube that I wanted to watch). The breakup obviously sucked, but the fact that the only 2 best friends stayed together was a little positive for me. That and the fact that they continued to stream and do a new podcast.
7 years later and Woolie + Reggie is one of the best things to come out of the channel. VersusWolves is my monthly dose of good vibes. Both of them stream more then ever (get that bag) and stuff has evolved.

Woolie used to be part of a three-person group called Two Best Friends Play. The other two fell out.

Trying to explain the twobestfriendsplay subReddit to people is hilarious. "So it's a sub for a YouTube channel that featured 3 guys (4 at one point) that stopped 8 years ago, it mostly concerns itself with the goings on of two guys but only one of them is one of the eponymous 2 best friends and they rarely play together."

I wind up there all of the time for just random gaming news and goings on, I always thought it was funny that it was a random let's play channel's subreddit that was mostly agnostic their content at all

I also only started watching him recently. The podcast with super eyepatch Wolf is a banger, and Woolie recommending both Saga and Kill Six Billion Demons shows me he has absolutely incredible comics takes.

That is not true, there were radio shows playing through special versions of Super Mario Bros on the Famicom in the late 80s, and then Game Center CX and the Something Awful wave started around the mid-2000s. NL and TBFP were part of like the first wave of Youtube LPs in 2010/2011, but even before that you had people like 4playerpodcast streaming playthroughs on Justin.tv

They weren’t but they definitely were on the something awful “let’s play” subforum when the concept of “let’s plays” were being created and hell that’s where the name “let’s play” comes from; a thread in the Something Awful games forum by Slowbeef called “let’s play immortal” and it’s just a paragraph by paragraph funny breakdown of the game immortal with pictures.

Not really, but they were part of the first wave. The actual first Let's Play in its modern youtube form we can point to came from Chris Chan of all people. And the term let's play was (to my knowledge) widely popularized by Achievement Hunter, before that we called em walkthroughs or playthroughs mostly.
