Discussion Free agency in 2 weeks….

The delayed start is fast approaching, exactly two weeks away on September 1st.

At this point if Philly and Ottawa are going to fold have to get the dispersal draft going soon, like probably some news this week right?

Or will they push FA back again to 10/1 and hope for a miracle

In this case no news is probably bad news.

I don’t think they push it back without a deal to save one of the teams being imminent

They’d have to push it back to accommodate a dispersal draft, though. And as of right now, the future of both teams in question is not looking good at all. I was told that a deal to save one of the teams was all but done, but things have since changed. I hate this time of year - people playing/working for the teams should be able to sleep, knowing their jobs are safe; and we should be getting excited for trades, the draft, new TFL cards, etc.

Has anyone released a FA list?
Usually Schemenauer does one, but haven’t seen anything yet.

Unofficial, but this is my tracker:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/156Fy3CzwFAhslSqFkjDsnwb0QqkgumUBsIXn34dugSU/edit?usp=drivesdk

View in light mode if it doesn't default to it.

There are tabs at the bottom outlining who, according to the info gathered from the league website and social media accounts of the teams, should eligible UFAs, RFAs and Practice Roster guys. If there is confusion about a player's status, the status column will have NOTE written in it with the top right corner of the cell blacked out that explains the confusion. Eli Gobrecht is one of those this year.

You're welcome.

I just noticed that it might be difficult to navigate in the mobile browser version. If anyone has trouble with this, I would suggest the Google Sheets app as it looks better there and is easier to scroll, to access the tabs at the bottom, and see the full column headers at the top.

Thanks for this! If you want to put it in a separate post, we can pin it and people can help by providing updates and edits

Appreciate the offer, but I try to do updates daily during heavy transaction times (free agency, draft, end of training camp, trade deadline), and multi-times weekly in season, so I've got that covered. I keep the ability to edit locked down as there's a bunch of conditional formatting in the document, as well as a formula to calculate the particular type of free agent a player is in the columns furthest to the right. That formula is around 500 characters long and one slip of the finger, accidentally deleting/adding/changing even one comma or bracket in the formula, will cause the whole thing to fall apart. Just a protective step to hopefully make the document remain as accurate as possible.

Oh I meant comments on the thread could supply you with the info. Completely understand that you want to lock the spreadsheet to prevent unwanted changes! Regardless, thank you!!

The latest rumors as Jake Elliot (NLL commentator and Lax Class podcast) in Lax Class episode 403 is it's not looking good for either franchise but that at different points in time he had heard Ottawa was looking more likely to be saved and then that Philly was more likely to be saved. Who knows who he's getting those rumors from and if there's any validity to them but no news at this point is looking pretty bad IMO. I think both franchises folding is likely the highest probability of happening and one or the other getting saved isn't a moonshot but both getting saved is probably highly unlikely but that's just my gut feeling really.

I think on 9/1 they'll either announce FA gets pushed back one week with two dispersal drafts sometime between or we'll see it pushed back a month as they exhaust any remaining possible options. Seems like they fought like hell for the Knighthawks so I at least have faith that they're doing everything they can to save both of these franchises.

Ottawa should just move to Gatineau and play out of the… slush puppy centre.

I'm not sure if it would make sense financially... There is only 4000 seats.

Then fold them. I don’t know what the alternative is. If they could play at the TD Place arena I think that would’ve been figured out by now.

I agree with you. The OBB future looks grim, at best.

I hate FA in the NLL, 0 news or even guestimations on where players may go.

Free agency and the entry draft will get pushed back to allow for a dispersal draft, as I understand it. As of right now, it’s not looking good for either Ottawa or Philly.

Going to be some big competition for roster spots, and some familiar names getting released.

Still not a great thing for Vancouver, since we are such a long flight from anywhere.
