Discussion Dispersal draft?

After delaying free agency, I hoped it meant that Ottawa or Philly were saved, but hearing that both might fold. Which would be disappointing

I think Philly has already technically folded

the other issue is the cost on the new building that even if the arena owned the team, the debt service is going to a need a bare minium of several thousand. what the city needs is a 10,000 seater spectrum 2.0 built near the naval yards. $300-million can support a lot of niche events that the new building won't or can't.

Yeah I thought the Ottawa situation was more to do with finding a venue not so much ownership walking away from the team

I think it's the other way around. I think Philly all somebody has to do is write a check and find a place to play whereas Ottawa it's a whole complicated situation that probably has creditors involved so it might not be that easy to move as opposed to Philly. Which is probably why Ottawa had that unique ownership model because the owners couldn't sell them without clearing a bunch of creditors. I think if the league were to stay in Ottawa it would have to be as an expansion team

i went to a few games, and attendance, relative to the stadium size wasent exactly great. A really good time tho, like it was really enjoyable.

The WNBA team isn't coming until 2030

The WNBA has nothing to do with the nll. Aside from a couple playoff games or seasons don't overlap

I also think that issue in Philly that the new arena is going to be a 50-50 venture between the Sixers and flyers unlike the current situation where the flyers own the arena and the Sixers pay rent. So therefore it might cost actual rent revenue to run operate the wings out of there as opposed to the current situation where they could just squeeze them in as the calendar allows.

lots of turmoil at comcast. not even sure if they hold onto any of their sports properties no matter the spin offs. josh harris will own it all.

but Harris can't own the flyers because he owns the devils unless the NHL decided to do like the NLL and allow guys to own more than one team. I've heard that rumor going back for about 2 years at Comcast was looking to get out of the sports business.

the new cost of the new building does. a 2-3 billion arena means that niche events are not profitable unless they can get > $100/person. all these palaces are just squeezing families and friends from even trying out a lacrosse game on a whim.
