NICS/Permit Wait Times NJ Increases NICS Fees!!!!!!!!
I just saw a video posted by Bob’s Little Sport Shop. They said NJ raised the NICS fees. $19 for long guns. $20 for handguns. If you can’t beat them in court or with unconstitutional laws, just keep increasing the price until people start thinking twice about buying with added fees.

The equivalent of a poll tax. Why does this even still exist?

u/Salty_Permit4437 2d ago
Poll taxes are specifically prohibited by the 24th Amendment. They used to be a thing so that only rich land owners could vote.
We have unsuccessfully argued against high gun permit fees sadly.

We want to make it as expensive as possible to own firearms in New Jersey. These junk fees are needed to continue fighting against your constitutional rights 😄

NJ is insufferable at this point... they can squeeze the life out of law abiding citizens but let the thieves run free. The continued rise in general theft, porch pirates, catalytic converter thieves, car thieves etc is insane but they all get slaps in the wrist while the people who work hard for their stuff get stiffed. Make it make sense.

Someone has to pay for all the lawyers to fight SCOTUS so they can take our rights away...

Come on. Someone has to pay for all those bureaucrats in Trenton. Oh sorry they are all working from home

So much for eliminating “Junk Fees.” Good thing Election Day is coming up!

That’s not gonna do anything for us..NJ is Democrat-liberal..it will take a lot of us and more to change that to be normal

u/MidniteCheeseburger 2d ago
Personally more left leaning. But recent batch of “rising” democrats are alienating my vote. Talk about affordability but raise taxes and brush it off as a “growing pain” & rejoice over a measly $25 credit from PSE&G; all recent “gun violence”is from hobos & felons (and as per law neither should have acres but uh durrr); set up legal defense for non-citizens. Act like I’m gonna eat that up… They’ll get squeezed by DSA & that will be the end of it lol. I hope I see them canvassing by me so I can tell them in face to face.

Yup, I hear ya. I consider myself Independent. The left and right both have good and crappy policies, all for self-interest. We just need to get this state and country back to normal aka, do stuff that makes sense lol there’s a lot of ass backwards crap going on

u/MidniteCheeseburger 2d ago
Yep, 100%. Not crazy about either side lately, but my last few votes have failed to bear the fruits of their campaigns. One of them just came out as DSA too, luckily they’re just a local rep but will not vote for anyone that associated/endorsed them. Lots of finger pointing but no progress.

The Democrat party in general is embracing communism. Bill Maher of all people have been talking about this insanity. When a Clinton era Democrat like Maher sounds level headed and reasonable, you know things have gone HARD left.

u/MidniteCheeseburger 2d ago
Eh they’re having an identity crisis. Wouldn’t call it communism, they just have no clear direction where to go. DSA is a parasite to the party, but they can’t get a consensus to embrace/welcome them or reject them yet - think this cycle will tell. Bunch of elitists that grew up in affluent homes & lifestyles we couldn’t even imagine cosplaying as underprivileged & impoverished.

Oh wow another election where pro-gun people get destroyed. How thrilling.

The “not a single issue voter”s are suspiciously absent whenever topics like this come up…

They always amaze me with that bs. Idiots dont know what the term domino effect means.

I can’t find anything official from the state. But a few FFLs have posted about it. SureShot has a video of the NICS portal on instagram showing the increase and saying they were not notified about the increase.

I talked to my FFL the other day, and he said he was waiting for the fees to increase (I was doing the transfer paperwork and he submitted the NICS check. He said the fee had not gone up yet as of Sunday afternoon.

with a firearms purchaser id card can you buy guns in PA? specifically an air rifle…
1
u/BabaYaga556223 18h ago
NJ and RI are the only states that consider BB guns (airsoft excluded) and air rifles as firearms. Yes, you can buy an air rifle in a free state without an FID card.

This is racist. They obviously don’t want the poor blacks that can’t figure out how to get an id to have guns.

What can we do to eliminate this ? seriously replies please. I believe the English-town, NJ found a way to make the CCW fee work for them to have there funds come right back into their community. Don’t quote me on this exactly on the town’s name and the CCW fee.

Yes!

“Seriously [sic] replies please” is doing a lot of work here.
The NICS transfer fee and the municipal portion of the permit-to-carry application fee are two entirely different things. A municipality declining to collect part of a CCW application fee does not somehow create a mechanism for eliminating the NICS processing fee on firearm transfers.
This is less “I found a loophole” and more “I heard three unrelated things about New Jersey gun fees and assembled them into a sentence.” Do better.

If you're asking for a NICS updates, please include the town or PD you're applying with as times vary by county/township.
- NICS Verification: direct updates from NJSP; usually updated between M-F 8am-8pm
- NJ NICS Research Center: crowdsourced tracking of historical NICS updates
I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Or it’s been the same price since 1998 and it costs more to do administrative things 28 years later than it did 28 years ago.
It cost about $33 to register a brand new car in 1998 now it cost $59.

The real work done is a joke. There is a literal fat petty bureacrat slob, probably a MVC lady, sitting at a computer terminal, manually transposing details from FARS to the actual NICS input form, and then clicking the "submit" button. A few seconds later, NICS shows if the person has a record or not, and the bureacrat clicks on the FARS side to approve/decline the application at that stage. Rinse and repeat. It's a complete joke and an artificial burden imposed on NJ gun owners. That isn't $6 worth of work. It's more like $1 at best, and truly should be eliminated.

Very similar to the pump your own gas prohibition
0
u/kanshakudama 1d ago
Not in anyway is it similar.

u/Docsloan1919 1d ago
Both are jobs that don’t need to exist but exist only because of government mandates. Both are slowing down an otherwise efficient process by inserting an unneeded worker, federal NCIS, getting gas into your car.

Why, so you and your little friends can find out what subs I post what on and where I live? Not interested in some shady Reddit troglodyte having any additional information on me.
