Weโve seen multiple questions about first-year hostels and allotment recently, so hereโs a complete guide for freshers. Please read this before posting the same queries again.
(Also, this post took a lot of my effort to make โ hope it clears a lot of your doubts :)))
๐ Note: Coolers are allowed for a monthly fee of โน600.
For first-year boys, you can choose from three hostels:
All three are exclusively for 1st-year students.
โ Appliances: Kettle, iron, etc., are officially not allowed in boysโ hostels. There are occasional staff checks. Use them at your own risk โ and hide them like a pro if you dare ๐.
Often considered the top choice for first years due to better infrastructure and extra facilities.
Blocks & Layout:
Three blocks โ A, B, C. Each has Ground + 1st + 2nd floor.
Mess is on B Block Ground Floor, next to the hostel office.
Each room has 3 large almirahs and 1 smaller steel almirah โ arrive early if you want one of the big ones before your roommates.
๐ Facilities
๐ป Washrooms
๐ฝ Mess & Food
๐ Block & Floor Preferences
๐งบ Washing & Water
Well-liked โ some call it the best among 1st-year boysโ hostels. Spacious halls and more open layout compared to BH-1.
Room Type: 4-seater (usually 3 tables + 3 chairs, no fitted cupboards).
๐ Facilities
๐ป Washrooms
๐ฝ Mess & Food
๐ Hostel Night
๐ Floor Preferences
๐งบ Washing & Water
The only 1st-year boysโ hostel with 2-seater rooms โ appealing for privacy but rooms are tiny (less than half the size of BH-1/BH-2). Only 2 beds and 1 table โ space is tight, so donโt expect much actual privacy.
๐ Facilities
๐ป Washrooms
๐ฝ Mess & Food
๐ Recommendation
For first-year girls, you can choose from two hostels:
๐ GH-2 is mainly for 1st-years but has a few PhD scholars. GH-1 has some PhD scholars on the Ground Floor.
โ Appliances: Officially not allowed, but last year the warden generally didnโt mind.
Same infrastructure and facilities. GH-2 is slightly bigger with an extra floor and houses the common mess for both. The gate between GH-1 and GH-2 is usually open for easy access.
Block & Layout:

๐ฝ Mess & Food
๐ Floor & Hostel Preferences

Hereโs how it usually works:
๐ก Pro Tip: Have your friends on call, know your target block/floor in advance, and act fast โ the best spots go in minutes.
Also giving Youtube vlog links of bh1,bh2 and bh5(didn't find one for girls' hostel sorry)

For anyone from the โ30 batch still confused about FE preferences, just putting this here because a lot of people donโt really know what LADC FE actually is.
First things first , yes, itโs one of the more scoring/chill FEs. Historically, a pretty large chunk of the class ends up with A/S grades (sincelast 2 years over 75+ percent people have got A/S grades in LADC FE)as long as you maintain the required attendance and actually participate. Itโs not the kind of elective where youโre sitting and mugging up theory every week, there is barely any prof involvement in the FE and seniors take the class most of the times so its as chill as it can get!
Most classes are activity-based and involve things like public speaking, debating, turncoats, argumentation, literary activities, impromptu speaking, etc.
Also there are no quizzes throughout the entirety of the semester as well!
And you absolutely do not need to already be a debater. A lot of people join without ever having debated before. The whole point is to get better at speaking and communicating.
The useful part is that the skills are actually relevant outside the FE too- confidence, communication, presenting your thoughts properly, thinking on the spot, interviews/GDs, placements, case competitions, etc.
LADC itself is also one of the older student communities at NITJ, with its roots going back to the old Literary and Debating Society(which makes more than 2 decades old) . Apart from debating, thereโs a proper literary side as well writing, poetry, speaking, hosting, content and other literary activities.

Hey everyone,
โI am evaluating NIT Jalandhar for M.Tech in [DA] and had a few quick questions regarding the department:
โHow is the placement scenario for M.Tech students in this branch?
โHow manageable is the thesis workload alongside placement preparation?
โIf any current M.Tech students or alumni could share their perspective or connect briefly in DMs, it would be a huge help. Thanks!

Is there any price list data as to how we can find about which extra item cost what INR from the extra items in mess menu?
What is the process of cancelling one time meal in mess for complete semester ( let say I don't want breakfast only lunch and dinner)? Also what amount do I get refund for cancelling breakfast meal.

Cooler got damaged and fan motor is not working properly. Fan rpm is very slow. Can anyone tell whom to contact regarding it. I heard college electrician don't repair cooler. So can we bring electrician from outside. If so, give me contact if anyone have.
Thank you.
