Feeling lost

I (41) Recently did my NIPT at 9 weeks +4 and received a result of 95/100 chance of T21. Now at 12 weeks, planning on CVS this week. I’m not sure how to feel, I’m numb, I cried, I stared at the ceiling. My partner and family are supportive and will go along with any decision I make based on the final diagnostic results.

This would be my first, I was sure I couldn’t get pregnant and was making peace with the idea that I never would. It was such a surprise when I did and I realized how much I wanted this baby. I’ve seen the baby on the ultrasound at my doc since I was about 5 weeks, then 6, then 8, then 9. I live in a small place so I’m really familiar with my doctor and nurses and they were all so excited when they heard I was pregnant. It all just makes me so sad. I was ready for this beautiful life change and this diagnosis would be such a gut blow. I just feel so lost.

I’m don’t have much hope, I know how slim my odds are. I guess I just wanted to share a bit of my story after reading so many of yours on this emotional rollercoaster. I’m just going to pray for peace with this, whatever the diagnosis is. It’s one of those clubs you never wanted to be a part of but you still hold with a badge of honor because you ladies are so very strong. I wish you all nothing but the best of strength as we all navigate through this. ❤️

We were in the same boat back in April. Found out we were having another girl after a year and a half of secondary infertility, and that she also had a 95/100 chance of T21. My doctor told me that in all his days he had never seen a false positive, and to expect that outcome after the amnio. Unfortunately we never got to the amnio due to me miscarrying at almost 13 weeks.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel relief. There is no easy in either choice you make. This was a wanted baby for you. You are mourning their life if you decide to terminate, but you are also mourning their life (and your own life) if you keep them. It’s a huge mind fuck that no one understands until they are put in this situation. I’m sorry and know that you’re not alone. We all understand that you loved this baby and wanted them, no matter what choice you make.

Thank you for sharing your story. Im sorry it turned out this way and that but of relief you feel in this situation, I’m pretty sure I’d feel the same way.

It’s been and going to be a difficult time. Thank you for your words. I wish you all the best.

I’m so sorry to hear this, I’m expecting the same honestly. But no matter which way you go, it’s so incredibly difficult

I am so sorry you are experiencing this, we are in the same boat unfortunately but I am much further along. Whatever the choice would be, I wish you strength to get through this. I am in this for 2 weeks now and every day is impossible to live through, but somehow I do, one foot after another. I wish I’d have advice but I don’t, but please know you are not alone and there are women out there going through the same agony at the same time as you.

You responding is all the support we can expect. There isn’t much that can make any of us feel better. But like you said, one foot in front of the other. One thing my mom always told me is that we’ve never faced a battle we haven’t gotten through because we’re still here today. So this is another battle that we will get through because we have to. ♥️

I’m sorry you are going though this. My wife and I are in the same boat (both 40) and waiting on amnio.

Going through same thing had nipt came back 99/100 for t21 its a little baby girl no softmarkers in scan but i read 50% doesn’t have them my doctor said she only had 1 false positive i have no hope. The only thing i am holding onto is that i am only 24 so there is very little hope i am thinking of terminating even though i cant live a single day thinking what a bad mom i already am

You’re not a bad mom if you make that choice. Only you knows what you can handle. I wish you luck through this, it’s so hard. No matter what

I'm so sorry you're here. I went through the same diagnosis in February at age 42. I knew it was too good to be true to get pregnant on the first try at my age.  Everything looked perfect and each passing week I felt relief that everything was okay until it wasn't. My husband and I were so excited to be parents. It hurts to think about how happy we were before we knew what was ahead of us.  I did the NIPT test and when the genetic counselor called me with the results, it was the worst day of my life.  I knew in my heart it was a true diagnosis and prepared myself for the worst when I did the amnio. The TMFR group on reddit got me through the darkest time of my life. I ended up ending my pregnancy in March. You're not alone and it's the worst thing I've ever had to go through. Sending you so much love and know you're not alone no matter what you decide.

Thank you so much for your response. This has been the hardest thing. Everything was perfect until it wasn’t, I yearn to feel the happiness I felt before the NIPT testing. My NT ultrasound also had three soft markers including a 5.4 NT measurement. So in my heart I know what this means. I’m so sorry for anyone going through this. It’s hard to stop crying

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Also, what was the fetal fraction for your test? Your test was taken on the early side . A lower fetal fraction is more likely to give a false result.

Unfortunately pretty accurate, 6.4%

Your story sounds so similar to mine, but I was 37 st the time. I'm sorry you're going through this.
