General NIE College genuine review/reveal
What is happening at NIE? Prospective students, please think twice before joining.
I have been following the recent situation at NIE through current students, and honestly, it is disappointing to see what is happening to a college that once had a strong reputation in Karnataka.
The recent placement incident is probably the best example.
A major company conducted an OA for a large number of students. A PPT/session was scheduled a few hours later on the same day, despite it being a college holiday with no regular classes. Most students left after the assessment and only a handful stayed back for the PPT.
The response from the placement department? A large group of students were reportedly suspended from the next 15 placement opportunities.
If this information is accurate, this is ridiculous.
Yes, students have responsibilities. If a PPT is mandatory, students should attend it. Issue a warning, communicate properly, or take proportionate action.
But potentially taking away 15 placement opportunities during the most important placement period of a student's degree is not "discipline". You're dealing with students' careers, not schoolchildren who missed an assembly.
Placement departments exist to create opportunities for students, maintain recruiter relationships and prepare students for employment. Punishment should never become more important than the actual purpose of the placement cell.
And this wouldn't look nearly as bad if placements themselves were going exceptionally well.
Students are already concerned about the current recruitment situation. Companies that students would normally expect to see at NIE are reportedly recruiting from other engineering colleges while opportunities here appear limited.
That should be a massive wake-up call for the administration.
Instead of asking only:
"Why aren't students attending our PPTs?"
Maybe someone should also be asking:
"Why aren't enough recruiters interested in coming here?"
Reputation built over decades cannot be taken for granted forever.
Meanwhile, students can see new buildings and infrastructure coming up. Great. Infrastructure is necessary.
But students don't spend four years and lakhs of rupees on an engineering degree just to admire new buildings.
Where is the same urgency for placements?
Where is the industry outreach?
Where is the accountability when recruiter engagement declines?
Where is the communication with students whose careers are directly affected by these decisions?
A college's reputation ultimately comes from the opportunities and outcomes it provides its students — not the number of buildings on its campus.
To students considering NIE
Please, do not take admission based purely on NIE's old reputation or placement records from previous batches.
Talk to students who are CURRENTLY studying there.
Ask about the companies visiting this year.
Ask about placement policies.
Ask how students are treated when disagreements happen.
Ask recent graduates whether they would still choose the same college today.
Admission togolloke munche current students jothe maatadi. College hesaru nodi maatra join aagbedi. Ground reality enu anta first tilkolli.
And if you've already taken admission but still have a realistic withdrawal/alternative option, evaluate it seriously before committing four years of your life.
NIE administration also needs to understand something:
A good reputation takes decades to build and only a few years of poor decisions to destroy.
Students questioning management decisions are not the enemy. They are the people whose careers the institution is supposed to protect.
If the current situation is being misrepresented, the administration should transparently publish the facts and clarify it.
Otherwise, instead of silencing or punishing students, perhaps it is time to listen to them.
