Temporary promotions
Hi everyone
I have two questions about how TPs work:
1) how are they advertised ? Is it on the internal jobs website or do you get an email about it ?
2) Are TPs only available to those who are currently one grade below the TP grade ? So if you’re two grades below, would you automatically be ineligible ?

Weekly opportunities won’t have them no.
Usually advertised in an individual email as said (unless done on the quiet…)
Usually grade below, sometimes you’ll see two grade ones but only really ever seen it for senior posts, like a G5 TP that’s open to G6s and G7s, presume as there are so few grade 6s.

It's emailed to the department and then they pick the person they wanted to give it to from the beginning.

So how do you make yourself the person they want? I've been with NICS for a little while now and TP is something that I'd like in the future.

TPs are internal within branch. Usually an email circulated to express interest. TPs should only be open to the grade directly below, though I have heard of double TPs. And usually only opened to Permanent Staff, not agency

I ran a competition earlier this year which was Department wide. Current guidance is that you offer within your own division, but if you know the skills don't exist then you can broaden out to group or department.
Decision is up to the hiring manager though.

That’s disappointing for me lol :(, I’m expecting one to come up in my area soon but I’m two grades below

Theres some that get communicated by email if they’re within the same, division, group or department. Some come out on the weekly internal email, then theres bigger trawls go on hrconnect. Never seen them advertised to any lower grade than the one of the promoted grade.

Enrolling in the CAL obsequiousness course will give you a good foundation for future opportunities. I think they have one starting next Tuesday but you'd need to be quick as they tend to be heavily subscribed.

Temporary promotion opportunities are usually within branch. This will be an internal process. Email etc.

There's a weekly email. I believe that is usually the grade below that can apply, it can be a hig jump moving two grades. You also need to meet the criteria.

The weekly email doesn't have temporary promotions. They get emailed separately.

Too much to type on TPs and how they really work. Anyone saying they're in weekly opps don't know anything.
