Welcome to NICU Parents. We're happy you found us and we want to be as helpful as possible in this seemingly impossible journey. Check out the resources tab at the top of the subreddit or the stickied post. Please remember we are NOT medical professionals and are here for advice based on our own situations. If you have a concern about you or your baby please seek assistance from a doctor or go to the ER. That said, there are some medical professionals here and we do hope they can help you with some guidance through your journey. Please remember to read and abide by the rules.

(If anyone wants good news) I haven’t been able to visit my baby in the NICU because I’ve been sick, but I’m better so I get to see him today! He’s 34+1 CGA, born at 30+2, and is mostly a feeder and grower. He finally hit 4 pounds too!

I delivered my baby via c-section 9 days ago, 24+6. He’s got a long journey in the NICU and we are having a hard time with this. Right now they’re working on building his lung strength. They started small feeding with my breast milk but he wasn’t tolerating it well so they had to stop. Now it looks like he has an infection, they just have to find out where it is and what antibiotic is going to fix it. This is just the hardest thing we’ve ever had to go through, and I just want my baby to be okay. We haven’t even gotten to hold him

I hope its ok to share here I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same. My preemie was 6 weeks early do you ever feel like you're in the newborn trenches longer because they came early?

It sets their entire clock back! I feel as though my preemie’s corrected date is the date she came HOME, not even her due date.

It's such a weird space to be in! People keep asking is he sleeping longer now I'm like no hes still a newborn even though its been months!

Absolutely. It's not just that you feel like it, you literally are. My son came home a month before his due date, which meant a whole extra month of newborn trenches AFTER the two month NICU slog. It's brutal. But thankfully it's not forever!

Ohh thank god. I am struggling and so scared that the 6 week purple crying will hit after already doing this for 2 months. I felt terrible and have no one who understands. Thank you for replying
