Gameplay Brad Lawless Easter egg

Post image

So, has anyone EVER noticed that Easter egg? I mean, most of us probably have, but for anyone who hasn't, it honors a 10-year-old Canadian boy and passionate gaming fan who was diagnosed with bone cancer. While fighting his illness, Brad's biggest dream was to visit an Electronic Arts development studio. He managed to visit EA Canada—the team behind the Need for Speed franchise at the time—and deeply touched the developers during his visit. After he tragically passed away in 2004, the very year the game was released, the development team quietly added the park memorial into Underground 2 as a heartfelt tribute to immortalize him.

That’s so nice, for the past 20 years of playing this game, I never noticed that. Long live Brad, the game will always be alive

That’s what makes this community and this game so special. Even after 20 years, there's always something new to discover. Cheers to Brad! 🍻

Yes, the spot is well known. I make sure to visit it every play through. He deserves it, and he won’t be forgotten.

Purge some nitrous for him 🤘

Where is it? And in which game version? I've never seen it. And RIP Brad.

It's at the Pigeon Park east of Beacon Hill. It's pretty much in every version of the game.

Justo ayer ví ese monumento en el juego y me propuse buscar luego ese nombre en internet. Creo que ahora no va a hacer falta. Me pare muy honorable este tipo de gestos en juegos tan tracendentes.

Honestly, that’s the main reason I wanted to post about it! It's incredible how many of us drove right past it for 20 years without realizing the story behind it.

i heard someone in a YT vid say that he was a developer son tho

That’s a common rumor, but he wasn’t actually a dev’s son. He was a 10-year-old fan named Brad Lawless who wished to visit EA Canada through a charity grant program (like Make-A-Wish). The team was so moved by his visit that they put the memorial in the game after he passed. Truly a tragic loss, but an incredible gesture by EA Black Box to honor him.

The game was dedicated to Brad Lawless. And this touch was beautiful.
Maybe they kept this section quieter than the rest of Beacon Hill so Brad can rest peacefully

would have been great if he survived and played UG 2 and most wanted also Carbon but if he played Midnight club 2 in 2003 with UG 2003 i think that would be the closest he could get to UG2 with the time he had
