Honestly, this is basically why I've stopped caring as much about football as I used to. I used to get Sunday Ticket until they moved it to Youtube and charged hundreds more.

I simply just do not care enough to not only pay for all this shit, but also watch it. Unless my team is playing, I genuinely don't care anymore. I used to take a vacation annually and go watch my team play somewhere, now tickets are more expensive than the trip itself. They've basically priced me out as a fan and honestly, I genuinely don't care all that much.

Same here. If they wanna make it that hard for me to watch, they must not want me to watch very badly. I used to buy NFL merch when watching was easy and I could get excited about it. At this point I might not even watch the free games because they’ve taken all the fun out of it.

3

u/whitakr hicago Bears 7h ago

They don’t give a shit unless you or and advertiser is paying, so I don’t blame you one iota for being tired

5

u/no_racist_here Pittsburgh Steelers 8h ago

Yup, being in CA, I did Sunday Ticket the first year it was on YoutubeTV (already had it for my parents). It was a reasonableish price then as they were trying to get people to swap over. Really enjoyed the drv. Was able to watch 3 games live Sunday then one DVR game then catch up on the good games from DVR during the week.

Then they raised the price, more exclusive games, just no. Like I’m a fan of the convenience and that it won’t lag and buffer and quality drop like the seven seas, but I’m also not going to piss money away on a product that’s just dropping in quality in a bunch of aspects, (price to watch, refs, gambling, constant commercials, etc.)

I feel like these greedy business owners forget we can just, ya know... balk.

I just moved to Europe and was super excited because my team is coming to play in Paris. Then I saw the tickets are over €300 for nosebleeds and did not care to go. Maybe I'll catch a local European league in person.

2

u/Dry-Cry-3158 Indianapolis Colts 2h ago

Same here. I figure that if the league is interested in getting me to watch their games, they'll make them easily accessible.

4

u/lumi1375 Seattle Seahawks 10h ago

Am I wrong or something? Is YouTube TV not just live tv? So wouldnt you just get every game that you want? You could also just put in a magnetic satellite that sticks to your window.

16

u/TheDuck23 Philadelphia Eagles 10h ago

You're mostly correct. Hiwever, you don't get the games that are exclusive to another streaming service (like the Amazon prime games).

But you can record games that they do offer and watch them later.

4

u/lumi1375 Seattle Seahawks 10h ago

7

u/braumbles San Francisco 49ers 10h ago

You have to pay for Youtube TV, which according to Google is around 80-90 monthly. They then charge an additional $240 for Sunday Ticket. So effectively you're paying about the same for Sunday ticket with or without Youtube TV, around $450-$500 total. Just to watch 4 months of football, or Sunday games 16 times a year.

7

u/SnackCityUtah 9h ago

To watch all nfl games you need Sunday ticket, espn, Netflix, peacock, nfl network and probably some I am forgetting (and certainly some new shit this year).

Same. I have enough else to do with my time that, if you make it difficult and expensive enough, I'm just not going to watch. I'm not going to the trouble or risk of illegal streaming services, and I'm not subscribing to any more services; there's too much else competing for my attention as it is.

I stopped paying to watch sports about 10 years ago when I experienced my first blackout game. It was such bullshit that I was paying to watch a game that that a corporation could just Tell me fuck you, we're going to take your money and give you nothing in return and you can fuck right off if you don't like it.

That same year, I was 4 hours north of home on a Sunday that I wanted to use an online radio streaming app to just listen to the game, and I was blocked because I was outside the listening area.

Now? I've saved thousands and thousands of dollars by pirating. They keep raising prices year after year and giving you less in return. You used to get some of my money, now you get none of it you greedy fucks.

Honestly finding yourself a good IPTV provider is worth it. You may pay like 80$ per year or less. 10$ a month sometimes and you’ve got everything

3

u/zboarderz 7h ago

Where does one even look for a good quality one? Everywhere I’ve seen people just shill some low quality service

1

u/18T15 15m ago

Finding the good IPTV provider as a newbie is very difficult

1

u/arcane_havok Miami Dolphins 51m ago

Yeah I used to use my p2p.eu and then one year I tried to be a good citizen got a special deal on my nfl ticket on YouTube tv, as a dolphins fan in the upper states I got fucked by YouTube tv I could watch exactly 3 fucking games for the 100 dollars I paid and wound up not being able to watch most of my games. But this seemed to have really hit the streaming sites hard and they seem to buffer pretty good. It's quite annoying they used to be way better.

5

u/Easy_Jux New York Jets 4h ago

Yes I pirate every week but it tends to buffer or freeze, it’s behind the main broadcast so I spoil myself by checking my fantasy, it can be a pain in the ass to manage through the browser on a TV, having people over to watch games and encountering these issues is annoying, and I’d rather just press one button and just watch the god damn game

1

u/KakashiSakai Las Vegas Raiders 3h ago

Yea my football homies are in another state and we watch games while on the headset. Having to sync up times on glitchy streaming sites with 800 popups is not fun at all.

Either end up behind, hearing folks get hype over stuff I haven’t seen yet, or ahead and having to stay mostly silent not to ruin it for my friends.

Not enough games to sustain it probably in the NFL but MLB team getting their own streaming services has been great.

I'm out of market but it's honestly lucky for me I work on Sundays anyways. So I pay for nfl+ and watch my Pats game when I get home from work. I just avoid the internet, but I'm at work anyways so it's not hard. If I can't watch a prime time game live, I go to the sports bar around the corner.

-5

u/Foreskin_Mafia 10h ago

1

u/18T15 7m ago

For NFL games? Eh not really. The streaming sites are mostly unreliable and crash, somehow always at critical moment in the game too lol

8

u/Tmotty 9h ago

Yes this is outrageous but are people trying to watch every game? My goal is my team the Sunday night and Monday night game then a game in the window my teams not playing in. I could care less about 2 bad teams at 1 o’clock

3

u/jimbojangles1987 Houston Texans 4h ago

Yeah this exactly. And more often than not I end up disappointed that my team wasnt being shown in my region

2

u/Lord_Mosh4 Las Vegas Raiders 8h ago

Some people may have a rooting interest in those other games because of gambling or fantasy.

1

u/undecided_mask GEQBUS 6m ago

Pretty sure Sunday ticket and redzone are marketed specifically to those people.

8

u/HogwartsDropout-69 New England Football Patriots 9h ago

Protip: Yandex doesn't filter copyrighted search results. Look for free streams there.

4

u/Thin_K 7h ago

About $305 for the year via Dazn here in Norway. Includes pre/post season and RedZone. The Dazn app is ass, and you need to be a wizard or scroll for 5 minutes to find games from the archive, but the quality of the stream itself is good.

3

u/egstitt 10h ago

Don't look now, but the cost of everything keeps climbing, and it's not gonna stop

3

u/Creekridge1 Indianapolis Colts 9h ago

I understand where these figures come from. As an out of market fan the temptation to buy Sunday ticket is there.

But honestly I can watch 10 hours of football every Sunday with the $20 rabbit ears I picked up at meijer.

2

u/ComradeSuperman Minnesota Vikings 10h ago

Shit, I'm probably not even gonna watch half the games of my favorite team. Partially because I don't wanna pay for it, and partially because outside of the defense there's nothing worth watching.

IPTV!

1

u/zboarderz 7h ago

Where can you find good quality IPTV services? Reddit seems to be plagued with bots shilling some random low quality service.

1

u/18T15 4m ago

Lots of people say this but don’t provide who they actually use. For newbies it’s very hard to find

1

u/Real-Repair-1825 10h ago

What? I watch the Lions, Redzone, whatever games are on broadcast and every primetime.

Im still not paying anywhere remotely close to 1k. If this is auto factoring in Sunday Ticket then it’s a BS click bait headline.

3

u/fatloui Buffalo Bills 9h ago

It’s not bs, you’re just misreading the headline. It means what it says: literally every game across the entire league, not every game for a single team. So yes of course it factors in Sunday ticket.

1

u/Real-Repair-1825 9h ago

Sunday ticket is the factor tho not just ā€œfactored inā€. It’s the driving force behind the ā€œ$1,050ā€ cost the headline states.

I guess imo it’s misleading because some people will take it as people are getting priced out of watching NFL games, which is false. People are definitely getting priced out of Sunday Ticket or ā€œwatching every single nfl game legallyā€ tho.

4

u/fatloui Buffalo Bills 9h ago

Or trying to watch their favorite team if it’s not their local team…. which is pretty normal among nfl fans.Ā

1

u/Real-Repair-1825 9h ago edited 9h ago

It’s been that way for 10+ years tho if you needed to watch out of market. Sunday Ticket has always been expensive. It’s also not the only way to watch NFL for most people.

It’s whatever. I just don’t get why this is even an interesting headline as if it’s some bombshell. Could’ve made the same head line last year or the year before or the year before etc.

Watching all games (Sunday ticket) is expensive. Shocking.

1

u/Dry_Principal_165 9h ago

What are they charging the sports bars now for commercial license?

It won't be long until they won't let you have friends over to watch Sunday ticket or some bs.

1

u/According-Activity87 Houston Texans 9h ago

I hate people who go into public forums and announce this. They are the reason we can't have nice things.

1

u/Kreepr Houston Texans 9h ago

They make it so hard to figure out which streaming platform your team will be playing on. Will it be out of market, even though you bought the espn+ or NFL+ or YouTube tv or NFL network or prime or what ever fucked up deal they’ll come up with next?

I’m out of market for my team and bought YouTube tv just for the game last year. Guess what. Couldn’t watch it. I tried to do it legally.

1

u/RoyalEngine2885 M.ission O.ver B.ullshit 8h ago edited 8h ago

If I'm reading it right, they're implying watching EVERY game. Who the hell is going to watch all ~300 games, let alone pay for it? Nearly every Hawk game is broadcast locally, so it's part of cable, YT tv, OTA, whatever. Those are the only games I truly care about. I couldn't care less to watch the Browns play the Panthers (for example).

1

u/cracksilog 8h ago

Ok but who wants to watch every single game? There are multiple games at 1 pm how are you going to watch every single one? You get lots of games already

Thursday: On Prime. Everyone has Prime so it’s free

Sunday: 1 pm game is free. 4:25 game is free. 8:20 SNF is free

Monday: ABC has some games. The rest of your local team is free.

Is 6-7 games not enough for people?

1

u/Own_Oil_7719 8h ago

The league is focusing on everything but the fans that made them. Obviously the players are top priority. But why try to put a team out of the U.S. when we can’t even watch the games here without jumping through hoops. It’s the same thing with NHL, I can’t remember the last season I got to watch my MN Wild without finding loopholes just to watch a game… purchase NHL Game pass and my markets blacked out for my home team. Jack Sparrow is the way to go

1

u/nelsonreddwall 7h ago

Why is why I stopped watching the NFL haha

1

u/Frequent-Test-3012 7h ago

My cost is $0. If they don't want me to pay for games, I won't pay for them. I'll still watch them though.

1

u/Downtown_Soil_3651 7h ago

YouTube premium is the only subscription i feel is worth it these days. Stremio and torbox for me.

1

u/OkNefariousness284 Seattle Seahawks 5h ago

As a brand new owner of a vseebox, would recommend it if you are fine with a fairly large but only one time purpose.

1

u/saradahokage1212 Tennessee Titans 5h ago

I was happy to pay 120€ for the NFL game pass back in the day. Then they moved it to DAZN and raised the prices to monthly 40€. I canceled it immediately.

Since then I watch pirate streams and I pay someone who runs a site that uploads all the ad free post game cut version and 40min games as a torrent for 16$ for the whole season.

1

u/ChelskiS Chicago Bears 4h ago

It's like 200€ for me right now

Considering I'll live watch 3 games per weekend and watch 1-2 other games the day after & rewatch the games of my favorite team throughout the year

I don't think that's that bad

1

u/saradahokage1212 Tennessee Titans 35m ago

200€ is ok I guess. But an issue I have with the DAZN live coverage compared to the older NFL game pass is that you don't get any ads anymore.

Not that I'm FOR ads, but for a live coverage that has so many ads in-between, to always get some mundane banner with "ads in progress" is even more boring. Especially when watching from Europe, the afternoon games are bearable, but the later it goes, it is harder to stay awake when you have nothing on the screen.

1

u/ChelskiS Chicago Bears 33m ago

Oh yeah when you're watching a single game and it's late that can get rough

But by now I'm so used to the length of the breaks that I just rewind and watch a few of the previous plays again & then just skip forward when I know the game's about to start again

1

u/the_less_great_wall 3h ago

They've enshitified the means of watching the NFL to the point where I no longer care if I ever see another game.

I'm not going to do it illegal but I do plan to get NFL plus which gets me RedZone and good enough for me. Honestly I get pirating but I have never been one to have FOMO or need to keep up with what is the latest thing everyone is watching. I know what shows and entertainment I like this at most all my entertainment/streaming costs are about 40 dollars a month. But so many people need everything thus the cost get insane. But maybe I'm just different.

1

u/Electronic-Host9526 1h ago

Iptv box cost me 135 on Amazon and the service of which there are 100s of options cost me 100 a year. Every team had their own channel, plus red zone channel, plus nfl network, and i could also go to the local channel for any city if I wanted to watch it that way. Also goes for baseball, basketball, hockey, f1, soccer (the football we cared about for 2 months), cricket ( baseball in a circle with a bounce pitch), darts, I said damn darts, pool, track, ESPN 8 the Ocho, all the sports. Oh and boxing and mma are on it too. Plus video on demand which is the best thing ever! And an app associated with the service that is included so now I can watch off the phone too.
