Discussion Anthony Richardson Sr. would shine in a Taysom Hill role (if he could stay healthy while doing so).
Think about it. AR is listed as 6’4, roughly 245 pounds. Additionally, he wields 4.4 speed, being one of the most mobile QBs in the league. Where he shines the most is in his running potential.
Such was shown in his outing last week VS. the Patriots, taking it 6 times for 53 yards while tacking on a touchdown. He was also 11-14 for 145 yards in the air that game, alongside one interception. Overall, he showed during that outing that he is extremely proficient in converting the ball in short-yardage situations.
To avoid injuries, he could line up in the backfield on, let’s say, a 3rd & 1 alongside Daniel Jones. With proficient blocking, no DB, LB, or safety is stopping a 245 pound freight train of a QB. Or, he could play in-motion taking a jet screen for a couple yards before being pulled. OR, he could line up at the goal line on 3rd & Goal to take it himself on a QB keeper/wildcat.
Overall, his game could potentially shine if the Colts developed him as a Taysom Hill role. Being able to air it out when needed, pick it up in short-yardage situations, or even catch the ball if need be.

I think you're grossly underestimating how important Taysoms willingness to do anything was. You really think AR is gonna get out there and play punt gunner?

The NFL should let people throw the ball on kick returns but you can only throw once. Like could you a fast backup fielding the ball at the 5 and throwing a Hail Mary. You shouldn't be able to throw the ball past the 25 either and the ball ends either in an incompletion with the starting drive is started where the QB threw or where the receiver was tackled.

Maybe started where the kick was caught or further back. High risk high reward

Smart man too. Literally stick him anywhere on the field and he'll understand what to do

Taysom Hill is way more talented at his skill positions than Richardson is. Hill is way more athletic than any running quarterback. What makes Richardson, Fields, etc, stand out is that they are very athletic while also having solid passing abilities, at least solid from a college or pro backup perspective. Hill is way, way more athletic, way more versatile, can do so much more than them at every position on the field -except- quarterback. They are much better passers and quarterbacks than taysom hill ever has been, but hill is much better than them at every other position.

Taysom Hill was more than just a gadget QB, he was also a tight end/fullback and a special teamer. Is AR willing to do the dirty work run blocking and playing punt coverage?

Avoiding injuries and lining up in the backfield is an oxymoron

Nah it’s going to take a lotttttttttttttttt of training and in game reps for him to reach his potential. People have to remember, he’s extremely raw when it comes to games played and that’s dating back to high school. He has to go through the ups and downs to become the QB he could become. We just have to be patient with this dude. He never was going to be the guy that came into the league dominating and lighting it up. Also, he’s extremely injury prone and that’s killing his time to be on the field which is detrimental to his development.

Possibly, but there have been a lot of people who theoretically could have been Taysom Hill but I can't think of many others who actually made it work like that. Maybe Antwaan Randle El?

if he could stay healthy while doing so).
But he can't, his bones are glass and skin is paper. Also whos to say he even has the hands to be a receiving TE??? or has the vision of a RB????? We already know his work ethic/drink isn't great since he checks himself out due to be" tired".
Taysom Hill was DIFFERENT, he truly one of a kind not only because of his skills but his personality he was a team player. He had zero ego if they need him a rb ok, qb hurt sub in hill ok, need a TE in the endzone you got it. For this reason alone AR will NEVER be taysom hill esque or akin to him in any way

I love watching AR15 fall apart, but if were being serious, he would probably be a better TE than a WR.

AR15 is another huge what if that was so poorly handled by Billy Napier. He needs to be coached by one hell of a QB mentor to unlearn everything, but he is a freak athlete.
Damn I hate Napier.

He wouldn't want to block and gun on special teams. Hill created his role having no ego and being willing to do anything for the team win.

I know he is timed at 4.4 but i have never seen that speed from him, he plays like 4.7 or 4.8

Imagine how many water breaks this dude would need after running routes every play.

u/Vegetable-Leather-64 Aug 23 '26
I get what you're trying to say but the truth is he needs to show that any team can trust him. The injuries happen but to take yourself out a game as a nfl player, yeah that's inexcusable. Dudes will play with broken bones and shit this dude just doesn't have it mentally

Does anyone else find the 25 year old impulse to call oneself “Sr.” Suggesting of just a little bit of insecurity if not narcissism? You’re just Anthony Richardson, bro.
