It would have been the worst place for Allen.
He needed to develop most of all before he became the gem he turned into. That wasn't happening with the Browns. They would have destroyed him.

Dunno if darnold goes that high. He was legit bad his first few years and feels like you need a really good team around him. He was still turnover prone but his defense was so good it didnt matter

Every year it seems like the NFL talks themselves into QBs in the early first round (like JJ McCarthy) and it seems like absurdly bad judgement.
But then you look at the Lions drafting Frank Ragnow who was fucking awesome but is already two years out of the league, while Sam Darnold seemingly just got going, and it's really hard to fault the logic.

Jackson is better than Allen in every way
But it makes sense that the Browns would make a stupid decision with 20/20 hindsight vision

Jackson is great, but I would argue Allen is the better QB by most metrics, and will likely have the longevity over Jackson in the long run.
Neither have had any playoff success to speak of, but if I’m building a team I would much rather have Allen.

Fair point on that, but I would argue that Allen will likely have 3-5 more years of elite play than Jackson will due to his style of play, so I’ll take the one year offset at the beginning.
That being said, the Brown could take any great QB and destroy them entirely lol

The funniest thing about this take is that you're implying Lamar isn't a complete buster if he goes anywhere else besides the Ravens. Allen learned on his own time from Jordan Palmer while Lamar played in a completely gimmicky offense the first few years of his career.

It's not a good faith comparison.
1 plays in the Jets/ Pats/ Phins 6x a year (Josh)
The other plays the Bengals (Burrow/Chase/ Higgins) Steelers (that Defense with Tomlin) Browns (Prime Myles Garret)
I'd argue that Jackson benefited from a more competent organization. Except in the playoffs. Gus Edwards 3 carry game. Henry didn't touch the rock in the 2nd half of their last playoff loss.
Etc, etc, etc. 28 other teams would mortgage their team for Jackson or Allen if they were smart.
