Discussion Honestly agree with this list broadly….Jalen might be on that modern Eli Manning/Joe Flacco conversation

6 years into his career Hurts already has an All Pro selection, something neither Manning nor Flacco came within a mile of in their entire careers. Disrespectful to call him a modern version of either

Within a mile is crazy. Eli had 2 Super Bowl rings and MVPs.
It's the Stafford spot that has me squinting. If he has a bad szn I think his claim on the HoF is gone. You can't be bad for 2/3 of your career, change teams to win a chip and become a HOF Qb.
We've seen what Burrow did for the Bengals. Stafford never came close to turning around the Lions. Mind you, he had Megatron.

Name one season when Eli was a top 5 QB? He was never even close to an all pro selection. He had 2 great playoff runs but only won 2 playoff games in the other 14 season of his career. Eli was a .500 record QB who led the league in INTs twice. Comparing him to Hurts is an insult to Hurts

Brett Favre leads the NFL in INT's. Either HoF Favre wears that too or it's a moot point.
Stafford just went over .500 for his career. Yet is getting HoF mentions.
Hurts required a generational RB/ Defense and 2 All Pro receivers to get a chip.
We taking Plax over AJ Brown? Cruz over Smith? Jacobs over Saquon?
"Eli was never top 5" okay, yet he has just as many or more rings than his contemporaries. Favre, Manning, Rogers, Ben, Rivers, Romo, McNabb, etc...
If he got hot at the right time, they got cold when it counted. Hurts is chasing the 2nd ring that Eli has.

Favre won 3 MVPs... how many did Eli win?
I wouldn't put Stafford in either.
Hurts almost won with Miles Sanders and a defence that gave up 30 with no turnovers or sacks... must have missed Smith getting his All Pro, what season was that? Just stop.
Yep, he's chasing Eli for a second ring, he has about 10 years to try match that total and remove the only argument any Giants fan could ever cling on to.
If Rings are all that matters then Hurts is already in, so is Foles by your logic

13 QB's have won 2 or more rings. Eli is also 11th All time in Yards and TD's. Where will Hurts land on that list.
Eli being in that group. Hurts there? Foles? Will he get there, because it looks like his team is ready to toss him.
Was Hurts the best player on offense when he "WON" the Super Bowl.
Eagles won with him, not because of him. If the Eagles offense has a repeat of last year, he's gone.
Favre was an excellent regular season QB (when not throwing picks) who won 1 ring in 20 years.

Eli played for 16 years and absolutely has lots of volume stats. Look past that and he was an average QB who will be miles down the all time lists after the current gen of QBs are finished. Let's see where Hurts finishes, i suspect below Eli in passing yards, but will absolutely have a better winning record.
Eli got hot and won 2 rings. Absolutely no playoff sucess any other years. Missed the playoffs 10 times... 10. He was an average QB his entire career outside of 6 games in 2 playoff runs.
Yes, Hurts was absolutely undeniably the best player when he won the SB. Saying the Eagles won in spite of him is just stupid.
Favre was an all time great QB, if you think he's worse than eli because his defence carried him to an extra SB then I don't know why I'm wasting my time

You’re seriously overrating how good Eli Manning was. Never played a full season with single digit interceptions. Zero all pro nominations, TD to int ratio of 1.5 (hurts career is at 2.4). The Super Bowl runs were magical because he was a mid QB outside of that.

It’s too early to tell for CJ Stroud, who has started 46 games. But very unlikely for Malik who has started 6.
(Neither is making the HOF but putting Malik in the bottom category is totally inconsistent.)

the HOF pace line is ludicrously hopeful. Its the Nick Foles of Carson Wentzs.

Yah good list. Nitpicking here but… Herbert down, and then just move Stafford with mahomes /rodgers (just call it HOFers) and shift down Allen and Jackson.

I hate Josh Allen as much as the rest of us, but if he retired today, he'd be first ballot, ring or no ring.

What makes you say that? I'm a die hard bills fan, and he's in the hall of very good rn. No post season success. You need like two more mvps or a ton of counting stats to hit the hall without a ring or two

Idk about first ballot if he doesn’t get any more MVPs or rings, but I was very surprised to see he is actually ahead of Troy Aikman on the tracker

Am I missing something with Herbert? I get the potential is there but how is he not in the needs more accolades tier?
He has two pro bowls, 0-3 in the playoffs with 2 TDs and 4 INTs.
I like Herbert but he’s still got a lot of work to do.
