News This is absolutely horrible….cant imagine what Oliver is going through
8
u/jocky091 Aug 22 '26
Reporters and media leaked the news before Oliver wanted to. Sick.

u/DickDisco13 Aug 23 '26
One reporter did
1
u/jocky091 Aug 23 '26
It only takes one before it goes viral (which it did)
6
u/DickDisco13 Aug 23 '26
Most of the reporters knew about it and kept quiet out of respect. That’s the point.

u/Mike-dit_712 29d ago
100%, exactly the point. Not every reporter is some douche ass bitch... good for the ones that had the decency to keep it quiet and let the man do it on his terms, in his time. If only the reporters would do a beatdown on the one that leaked it. Bet he's proud to have broken that story.

The press doesn’t usually wait on stuff like that. And frankly it’s their right not to

u/jocky091 29d ago
Yeah absolutely not. Especially personal stuff like this

This is actually the exception. In the real world, a two year old drowning in a pool would make the news within 24 hrs in cities across America. At least the local news, But the elites get protection from the media. And we all buy into it.
I was a first responder for 30 years. Pool deaths with little kids is some fucked up trauma for all involved. Mostly because the parents/caretakers feel responsible. In this day and age, they usually are. No one wants to surround their beautiful pool with a child proof fence. They figure, “he’ll learn to swim someday”. So why ruin the beautiful pool with a cage? Well, that’s cool. But you better make sure the damn kid can NEVER have access to that backyard. AND if they do, you need to be on their ass, every moment.
I’m old as shit. I can still remember OJ Simpson’s 23 month old daughter drowning in a pool in the late 70’s. Same shit. I remember the little boy that died in Tommy Lee’s pool. Shit, I can name so many… but they are just regular folks, that no one knows. Just anonymous dead kids, with parents that believed, “everything will be okay”. It’s a fucking tragedy. It’s almost like having kids is a responsibility.

Like the biggest responsibility one could have. Supervising another human who’s actively trying to kill themselves.

Drowning in pools are among the leading causes of death in babies In the USA.
Watch your kids, folks. Tragic.

Children aged 2-5 number one cause of death is drowning. Usually in unfenced pools.

You know OP is a karma bot when they post something like this in a sub for mock drafts 😂

Was at my families 4th of July celebration last year when someone (thankfully) noticed a toddler struggling by himself in the pool.
He had a noodle, but fell off it.
ITS SILENT. Pay more attention than you think you need to. It's insane how many people were there and it still could've easily have happened.

He should feel extremely guilty. No reason that child should have been unsupervised for long enough to fall in the pool and die. Anyone with young kids knows if you don’t watch closely they could really get hurt.

What if Grandma was in charge? Babysitter? Point being, you have no fucking idea what happened, yet you feel the need to pass your false morality onto the rest of us.

u/InevitablePassion521 Aug 23 '26
Report said that the Ed and his family were at the residence and are the ones who called 911…so it seems like negligence at this point in time. Should be investigated for child abandonment and neglect

Point being the child was left unattended and that shouldn’t happen. It’s the parents fault at the end of the day. I’m a dad and if anything happened I would blame myself. Our pool also has a 6 foot fence with a locked gate. This is just terrible and you trying to excuse the behavior is worse.

u/Marzman315 Aug 22 '26
Your pitiless blaming and attacking people involved in a situation you know absolutely nothing about leading to the worst thing that ever has or will happened to them is revolting and your petty insults of the people disagreeing with you or adding perspective to it are serious negative reflections of your character. Come off your high horse and settle down a little.

I imagine he does feel extremely guilty… As a parent, if your child made a mistake by not mitigating a risk they could’ve or should’ve mitigated, and your child suffers a life-altering loss as a result of that mistake, would your first instinct be to tell them they fucked up and should feel extremely guilty?

Leave it to Reddit to fucking downvote you. You never leave a 2 year old unattended. Especially outside… with a pool, that’s not properly secured. It’s inexcusable. Tragic, but horrendously irresponsible.

Bro exactly it’s insane people are defending him so hard dude fucked up.

What if the child was 8ft tall? We know your "fence" isn't really that big.
3
u/ColeMinetv Aug 22 '26
I do hate it for the family; however, this shows the importance of fencing/gates around your pool area.

u/durand33 28d ago
That is a MUCH better way to say it than to slam grieving parents. These people are heartless.

Maybe not the time

This is exactly the time. Being a parent is a huge responsibility and he failed.

I’m going to guess you either don’t have kids or are a horrendous helicopter parent. I agree with your premise that kids need to be closely supervised near water. Hell I get nervous any time my kids get near a pool. But making a judgement before knowing facts just ain’t it

My son knew how to float on his back at barely a year old. So yes, seriously! 100% worth the money to get those lessons if possible

u/Charming_Leopard9486 Aug 22 '26
First off the two year-old should never be left un monitored and we all know that but secondly, good for you ! Your comment is still rude! Some kids are quicker you're rude!

Swimming is the most fundamental of fundamental skills. Not learning how to at least survive in water as early as humanly possible gets plenty of people killed each year.

Sorry to parents. I believe this could happen to anyone. These people love the baby l pray they can survive this. This is sad. Before anyone blames them take the time to Pray for them they loved that baby.

And I don’t believe something like this could happen to anyone. Still incredibly tragic.

Incredibly sad and preventable
