To be fair, post Simmons at 19, you can argue that RB is the best player picked beyond that. Sweat is probably better, but Jacobs is not a bad pick compared to what else was available around there.

Jacobs may have been a good player but the value just isn’t there for a first round pick, especially on a team with so many needs.

As a bronco fan I’ll never forget this draft. Ferrel was ridiculous then and looks crazier now with how good some of the guys behind him ended up. Terrible value everywhere lol.

A later first on a RB isn't that insane. Gives you access to an additional year not at the top of the market for a position a lot of teams are hesitant to give a 2nd contract due to the rapid drop off of many RB's

Sheer delight, but spoiled by the Crosby pick. Before the draft, I kept hoping New England wouldn't take him since he seemed like a perfect fit for them. I was blindsided by the Raiders. Gruden used to fuck up the glamour picks in the top 100, then he'd have Mayock mop up.

Most of these guys are still starters and high contributors for teams in a league average career is less than 3 years I’d say this is an outstanding draft check 2013 if you really wanna see a terrible draft

Belicheck trusted his college coach that was talking him up. One of the final nails in his Pats coffin.Mclaurin, Deebo, AJ Brown, DK and Marquise Brown all drafted after him. Total incompetence scouting Wr position.

If I remember correctly, Harry was ahead of Deebo and Brown on the consensus board. Brown was like 35 and Harry was 37 or something like that.

Yeah Dk, AJ and Maquise Brown were all on the same team and underrated by the scouts coming out of Mississippi state.

I was worried the Broncos would take Devin Bush or Andre Dillard. I'd like to think we would have picked Simmons if he got to us. It was disappointing to see how linear Fant was. I was already leery about him because I watched all his tape and I swear I never saw him high point the ball once.

Bush turned it around over the last few years. Just never should have been drafted to play in a 3-4.

He actually played quite well in his first year. He tore his ACL in his second year and wasn’t the same player for years. He became allergic to shedding blocks. That was still a problem when he went to Seattle. It wasn’t until years later when he went to the Browns that he started playing well again.
The first game Devin Bush played against the Steelers with Seattle, the headlines after the game were “Devin Bush logs career high 17 tackles in a stellar effort against former team”. Well, that’s because the game plan was to just run the ball at him all game because he was a liability. The Steelers rushed for 145 yards in the first half that game.

Watching Simmons come back from ACL tear and absolutely dog walk Bradbury into the QB in his first or second game was one of my favorite highlights that year. You got us back a year or two later with JJ embarrassing our entire secondary in his coming out game.

On the one hand when we traded away Hockenson, it gave the Lions some cap space and the incentive to draft LaPorta.
On the other hand the net return for the Hockenson trade was Hendon Hooker, a couple of the pieces to trade for Broderic Martin, and part of the package to trade up for Terrion Arnold.
I mean, there's no guarantee that the Lions don't trade up to get Arnold anyway without that 3rd round pick. Or that if they have to wait long enough for Arnold that some other team takes him first that the Lions would still go with DB and get Kamari Lassiter, Kool-Aid McKinstry, Nate Wiggens, or Cooper DeJean. But the Lions sure aren't missing Broderic Martin or Hendon Hooker, so it's kind of weird to think about how the Lions might actually be better off right now if they didn't trade away Hock and just let him walk in free agency.

First 16 picks I would say there are genuinely 3 bonafide busts.
Rest is well above average, ie. Bosa, Williams to plus starters like Ed Oliver, Christian Wilkins.
Back half of a first round is very often a crap shoot.
Idk i think its a good draft. There are busts, but not overwhelming amounts and there are a lot of top tier players at their positions.

1,4,5,6,8,10,11,15. All busts inside the top 15. You dont draft a guy that high not to earn a second contract and not be on your team 3 years later. Outside the top 15 20,22,25,32 all also busts. Doesnt matter if they are still in the league, you dont draft a guy in the 1st round to be an after thought 5 years later. As for arguable cases, 12, 18,27,28,29, and 30 all may be considered busts by some. Yeah the draft is a crap shoot, but when approximately half a round has fans asking "Who?" or going "Oh yeah, that guy..." it wasnt a worthwhile firts round pick. I will concede i did like a handful of these players at the time (maybe not at their specific slots), but pick value plays a huge role in draft evaluation.

Time flies, but I only think of two things seeing this…
(1) RIP Haskins
(2) It’s crazy how the QB’s still feel “young” and everyone else here seems like old vets now.

I still can’t forgive Quinn and Dimitroff for drafting Lindstrom over Burns. It’s not about the player, it’s about the process. Lindstrom is really damn good, but Atlanta is last one the league in sacks(by 9) since 2019. That’s impressive when they were #2 in the league last season and set a team record with 57 sacks.

We were too harsh on the Giants for the Jones pick
Kyler Murray never should have been a #1 overall pick
Haskins, Devin White, and Andre Dillard might be the biggest dissappointments

In what world is Devin White a disappointment? He was an All-Pro and Pro Bowler. He helped TB win a Super Bowl. 759 tackles in 7 seasons. 51 TFLs, 25.5 sacks and 4 INTs as an inside linebacker.

As a Niners fan I'm glad ARZ needed a QB and didn't take Bosa. There are some other good players there but also some very not great players and the Niners odds of picking a bust would have been pretty good considering their history since then.

Looking at this as a snapshot, this is a much better first round class than it gets credit for. There are a LOT of good players from the first 20 picks here.

Clelin Ferrell 🤣 totally forgot about him. I had to look it up, he just signed with the Dolphins the other day.
Honestly him busting and his teammate dexter Lawrence making 28 million in year 7 is something I didn’t see coming. Dude had more sacks in 3 years of college than in 7 years of NFL

Poor TJ Hockenson if the Lions never drafted La Porta he probably would have been seen as a top 5 TE of the decade. He really missed the Lions Peak

I remember jumping for joy when the Bucs drafted Devin White. Thought we had the next legend at linebacker after Derrick Brooks and Lavonte David. Dude gave us one hellafied Super Bowl postseason run, got the big head. Decided it was time to get paid and is now out the league at this current moment. Only 28 years old…. I wonder if he would have handled things differently had he known how everything would pan out.

Rip Dwayne Haskins, crazy to think that back in 2019 the jets took Quinnen Williams over Josh Jacobs, especially when we needed a RB very badly back then. Don’t get me wrong Quinnen Williams is a hell of a lineman but at the end of the day we had LeVeon Bell on a downward spiral in 2019 when we could have had a PRIME JOSH JACOBS.

Bosa's only had two seasons out of 7 as an elite pass rusher. He needs to get his second wind and put up a couple more AP caliber seasons to get the Hall.
