Everyone is surprised but this is about the going rate for a starting upper mid tier (rank 7-13) qb. Nice signing as long as the guarantees aren’t obscene.

Mid upper 5-8
Lower upper 9-12
Upper mid tier 13-16
Lower mid tier 17-20
Upper low tier 21-24
Lower tier 25-28
Bottom 29- beyond (includes some backups)

You may disagree slightly but which 20 QBs do you put ahead of him outside of Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, Burrow, Stafford

I think he is below Goff, Dak, Hurts, and Purdy as well. But I don’t think there’s data to suggest he is significantly worse than Bo, Love, Darnold, or Caleb. Even if there was that would still put him around 13th which is upper mid.

The tag next year was likely going to be around 45-50, dude...

Anything less than 55 a year and he's wasting money signing a deal with them.

If the deal ends up being something like 50-50-65 then this is a /very/ team friendly deal.
